Its a Fourier Transform of the electromagnetic signal emmitted by a dying star. The band picked it out of a book (black on white), Saville reversed the (non) colours, laid it out, and picked some expensive paper.

In the MOJO article on NO/JD, there was an interview with PETER SAVILLE in which he said he had little to do with GR or WFTSC. He left it to his assistants and BERNARD. HOWARD WAKEFIELD who works in SAVILLE ASSOCIATES came on these boards around the time of WFTSC and answered any stupid questions we had.

Saville said that he is no longer interested in pop-sleeves, and that he is too old/has moved on. He also said that a recent cover was turned down by the band. Bernard, it seems, still fancies himself as a bit of a graphic designer.

Oh, poor old little Saville is no longer interested in "pop sleeves", is he, dear? So why the "art direction by Peter Saville" credit in every New Order sleeve, I dare to ask?

I presume its to do with the fact that its still put together by his associates. Im sure he has some role in the design, but not much.

I should also think that the band are keen to keep up appearances. In certain circles, (esp amongst the hardcore) it would be considered sacrilege to have no Saville involvement. I think it says more about the present priorities of the band than it does about Peter Saville. After all, they are the multi million selling pop group, releasing 2 retrospectives for every album at this stage - He , it is said, is living on a mattress in the back of his studio.

I like it but I would have LOVED if they used the NewOrderStory cover..that bring back so much memories..I still have the VHS tape and will keep watching it.

Now only if they could package a Pumped Full of Drugs & Academy DVD!!!!

I heard this guy, jude law, may portray ian curtis in the new joy divison biopic. Bit of a cad, though.

firstly, i chose the member name as a joke last year. and as you can see i do not post a lot. so i've been too lazy to change it.

ceremony video: really beautiful, and i guess a comment on homelessness. there is a guy inside the box, who slowly reveals himself. he's wearing an addidas track jacket over a long transparent plastic raincoat. later shots are him dancing in the street and in some sort of tunnel. shot in shanghai. gorgeous light and colors.

temptation video: shot in paris, black and white. mostly following a girl in the streets, also a very cute scene where she steals the ceremony 12 inch in a record store, and finishes with her dancing in an apartment.

the band is not shown in either video.

NAAH! He would be a bad choice as much as I liked him in A.I. If anyone got round to seeing BATMAN BEGINS,I reckon Cillian Murphy (The Scarecrow) would make a good choice.He may not have Ian's forehead,but he's got the eyes and the presence..and he's a JD fan as well.

Going back to the DVD,I like it.It just says to me "everything but the kitchen sink"!
