All in all you've got plenty to look forward to for the rest of the tour. Be interested to hear Johnny Giles impressions.. Was anyone else there?
More tomorrow..
Well after a couple of days in Brisbane, now moved onto Sydney & linked up with Mr Jarvis, Paula & our Pompey mate Gordie. Touched down a few hours ago & settling into what looks like a top city.
Would like to mention to everyone back home, that Oz is nice & hot....oh, you thought as much?...ok then.
Just as I sat down to look at the forum, the internet cafe started to play Temptation. Bizarre.
Anyways, the gig. Thought they were in pretty good spirits, pretty relaxed & gave a good account of themselves, nice to hear Love Vig again after it's one & only previous outing this year at Liverpool Olympia. Have to say though, they are beginning to show the typical signs of a band on tour, an element of 'right, off we go AGAIN' has crept into their performance but not sure that it would be apparent if you were seeing them for the first time on this tour.
The Aussies I spoke to, Big-Up to all the following - Dennis Remmer & mates including lass with messages for Hooky written onto cardboard, Bernie & Mrs, Adam Reed who recorded the gig & lads near the front from Brisbane who were staying at the Meridion Hotel in Surfers Paradise where NO also stayed - all seemed well pleased with the show. And it was a good gig.
Temptation was given a good airing, but it was LWTUA & Blue Monday that really seemed to get the crowd worked up. After LWTUA, Barney says..'you sang that better than me, but that's not hard'.
No Ceremony. This seems the same as their Area:One policy. Barney told us 'they don't really know Ceremony over here' when we challenged him on this at Vancouver airport - not sure about that, just cos it's not on 'Best of'??.
At least Touched has been dropped, which stops Barney from mentioning David Beckham.
Was right at the front but nothing like an Engerlish NO gig. I've been knocked about more on the Northern line. Generally a young crowd & a fair few fans who have just got into NO through Get Ready which was refreshing to see. 'I heard they been going for over 20 years or something'! this lass says to me as we lined up at the security barrier waiting for Garbage to finish so we could claim our spec.
Looking forward to meeting up with a few more NOOLers on Wednesday before the Hordern Pavillion show - like you DC, where were you?. Dennis, you wrote the details down for me after the gig, cheers. See you at Bar Cleveland on Surry Hills.
Off to Hunter Valley for an Aussie Wine tasting trip with Al, Paula & Gordie tomorrow.
And Sloppy, you should hear my Mavis Riley ;)
