There's going to be a John Peel day on the 13th October...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/4176158.stm

A series of gigs are being planned.

NO/JD got a big leg up from the mighty Peel when they first formed and they contributed to his 40th birthday party, so who knows, maybe the NO gigs aren't quite over for 2005...

(fingers crossed).

Spotty; is it worth asking the management- i'd be surprised if they didn't have something to say about this...?

Isn't Hooky going to be in the States doing his DJ type thing around that time???

Seems to me that would put a bit of a damper in any plans for any NO gigs around that date..

Indeed; it'll be interesting to see if management announce anything... NO really respected Peel for what he did for them and music as a whole...

just had a look...Hooky's last day in the States is scheduled for the 8th of October...which would give him enough time to get back to the UK...

so MAYBE?!?!?!?!?

That would be great but where would they play, the site says venues throughout the UK but i think a venue in Peels original home town of liverpool would be reat, not too far for the lads or myself to travel.:)

Actually, ask Mr Jarvis or Giles, because that was meant to be in April and New Order were supposed to be part of it... and doing a few dates in the UK before going to America.

But it didn't work out, so I'm quite sure you can expect them to be there, but I'll ask around... however I didn't get any news from the management recently...

Er, nothing to add to what Spotty's said. As far as I'm aware the Beeb were supposed to be doing a Peel Day back in April, New Order playing the Brixton Academy.

Er, which obviously fell through.

God willing; my wife should be 'up the duff' by then- the potentially gestating one can only benefit from some decibel shattering NO rhythms (I hope) and may yet be the youngest NO fan on Earth...

P.S. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE FORTHCOMING RELEASE- HOPE ALL GOES WELL...:thumb:
