Technique Demo's

Does anybody know of any Technique demo's available.

Never seen any Chris, but then again I have never seen any demos from any album. Are they around, and if so does anybody have any they'd like to bung at little old me ? Hundreds of live shows to choose from as a trade !

To be honest I havent seen any either. There must be some out there. Does anybody have any rare remix's from Technique or any rare remixes of any New Order songs I could trade or buy?

I was always wondering if there were demos of Closer available myself...

There are some demoes in circulation. I've heard demoes of the following tracks: Spooky, Brutal, Round & Round, 1963, Temptation, Lonesome Tonight, Murder, The Kiss Of Death, Way Of Life, All Day Long, Angel Dust, As It Is When It Was, Every Little Counts, All The Way, Love Less, Run, Dream Attack, Mr. Disco and Weirdo.

I'm not sure they're really demoes though. I've only heard them once, but to me they sound the same as the album/released tracks, but run through the guitar monitor - so the mix is way off. The guitar is very high in the mix and everything else is low. And they're all consistently that way - even though some of them should date back to '82 (Temptation) and some are as recent as '98 (Brutal). I'm almost certain that these are not authentic.

I'll give them another listen and send another post if I have a different opinion.

someone on this site was trying to sell a couple Demo discs with the exact songs you listed. looked like a rip-off to me. Seems as though major labels aren't the only ones trying to squeeze cash from fans desperate for more material. I need to see the certificate of authenticity before i'll dish out $10 for a bunch of Demo's.

i think there has been a big lock on demos since all the JD bootleggs avalible

Julio, I found this thread from Tracey. He's summed up the sound correctly but how easy is it to play around with the mix? I also have 3 Technique demos:Guilty Partner x 2 and All The Way if anyone is interested.These ARE different to the released versions.

I think its safe to say that many here would be very interested in hearing these three songs! What would I have to do? Sell my soul? Give up my first born child? I really would love to hear these!

I'd like to hear the demo of All the Way, at least...

There are supposed to be some unreleased mixes of 'Vanishing Point' from 1994, when London intended to release that as a single to promote 'The Best Of...' - before they decided to re-release 'True Faith' instead.

Anyone heard these 'Vanishing Point' mixes/radio edits, etc?

Were they the ones intended for release, as I know of a few home-made bootleg mixes floating around? There must have been a radio mix, surely? Any idea who remixed the two versions you have? Where'd you get 'em from?

There is the infamous FACT300 pre-listening tape that was made in "about 5 copies". It is said to contain mostly instrumental Republic tracks. I haven't met or heard about anyone who actually owns a copy. We can probably find them in band's piles of cassettes without cases (I got a huge pile like that myself...)

Not forgetting the stash of tapes from NOs rehaearsal room won by Mr Sultan on e-bay said to contain apart from live gigs, reharsals of half finished songs. Most probably these songs were later recorded and released but you never know.

I'm still kicking myself for missing that auction. I'm not sure how high the winning bidder would have gone but I could have paid the amount that those tapes went for. I would have made the rehearsal/demo tapes available for free to everyone. These kind of recordings deserve to be heard!

Matthew, My maximum bid was £150. For a while I was winning! It wouldn't have been possible to bid higher without finding out the exact contents of these tapes. They may well be nothing.

I suppose the seller was not able to provide "samples"? Did aynone ask?

My point is that I wish I hadn't missed out on the bidding. I would pay a lot for a trove of unreleased New Order demos and/or rehearsal tapes. I'm lucky enough to have a well-paying job and I don't have a lot of expensive tastes (I still drive the same beat up car that I did in college!). New Order's music is one of my hobbies and I'd pay dearly to listen to some unreleased material.

If I had these items, I would make them available to everyone rather than locked up in my collection.

Just my two cents. And, by the way, if the person who did win the auction is reading these posts, I'd be glad to put my money where my mouth is if the tapes do in fact contain several tapes with rehearsals and other similar material.

I have innumerable live tapes from New Order gigs over the years but I recall one tape that I managed to get hold of - and subsequently traded in for some priceless vinyl - featured some new songs with working titles that indeed became Technique tracks - one, called "The Ibiza One" turned out to be Fine Time whilst another track "Guitar One" (??) was either All The Way or Guilty Partner.
