This has probably been done to death but if it has Ive missed the thread.

My favourite would be True Faith. Loved it from when the single was first released and still think its a cool video now. Has both the arty aspect and features the band members too (even if its only a leg for Hooky).

Should New Order have appeared in more of their videos or is that part of the fascination? I also think recent videos have been poor.

I couldn't agree more. I know it could seem a wee bit obvious that 'True Faith' is my fave as well, but it's a fantastic piece inni't all, out there ?! (Love 'Run2' either... and 'Here to stay').

World(ThePriceofLove) is my fave. I love the journey of the camera and the way it sneaks past the band members. I also love the contrasts between hunks/babes and old duffers. Very thought provoking...

I like it best when NO appear in vids like this; in a non-direct kind of way. The True Faith vid is inspiring but I don't find it thought provoking, same with Blue Monday 88- although the dog is cool.

World for New Order being extras in their own video and BLT for the guy and girl jumping on the trampoline is slow motion.

The Perfect Kiss....a good video clip for serious music listener - no bling (ala Puffy Comb...ooops, its Diddy, sir!), no bimbettes (ala SnoopDoggyDogg), no 'oh-i-got-a-headache-coming' pose (ala George Micheal)....just great camerawork and gorgeous guitar&keyboards!!!

well you can't really discuss something on the profiles can you? So hard to decide this one! mMy top 3 are probably TPK for just being a genius concept and amazingly executed, confusion for being very amusing and barney's death stare and finally state for being high in the hotness factor. but other ones are interesting too- like ruined in a day, why is bernard all in a corner on his own and what drugs is he so clearly on? did that ever get played on daytime tv? the only one i don't like is fine time, freaks me out bad!

Obviously have loved most videos of theirs at some time. But i do have to say i LOVE the Run 2 vid.Just the abstract weird and wonderful way the old guy is chuckling to himself one minute then seriously thinking the next and then there`s the Girl dancing joyously.Just effortless genius really....

touched by the hand of god. a great parody, and barney looks fab in spandex.

World is utterly ruined for me by NOT being a continous camera motion (which in turn was a bad technique on Krafty), so I have to say its Here To Stay.

TPK has always been tops for me, but also the one for Regret, by Peter Care, director of a number of excellent Cabaret Voltaire videos, is a very close second. An interesting one to watch several times, there's quite a bit going on in it, I never get tired of watching that one.

World (Price of Love) is my favourite. Nice smooth camera shots and love seeing the band "acting" in the video shots. (Gillian & Stephen are great as tourists.)

Run. I reckon the director said something like, "so you bludgers don't want to be in your vids, I'll show you", and then proceeded to put all the worst live moments on the vid. Yet I love it.

They have so many great videos it's hard to pick one... I agree with what everyone has said so far, but I'll always be partial to True Faith, because that was the first New Order video I remember seeing (on MTV sometime in the late 80s), and the song that really got me into the band.

... And if I can maybe ask a follow-up question, what/when/where was everyone else's first New Order video?

:)

definitely WIM, I was 8 years old and everybody was obsessed with football-barney was going through his shades period, I think (it has been a while) the next was not a video, but the Hasselhof Regret on TOTP. Once again shades are pretty much all i remember, although now i can appreciate the incongrousness a bit better

No theyre not. They pose for the camera standing all awkward like and smiley. Worse acting since I last saw Crossroads with Benny and Miss Diane!

Well, I Should add that one reason why True Faith video is my favourite is its also the first I saw, first song of the band Id heard and got me into Substance and from there everything to do with New Order. Its was the Summer holidays of 1987. A time when me and my mates would buy albums and 12 inch singles and then tape each others. Other songs doing the rounds were PSB - What Have I Done To Deserve this? (With Dusty Springfield), Def Leppard - Animal and Michael Jackson - I Just Cant Stop Loving You.

Its strange to think that New Order I still held dear to me, but the other acts Ive just named dont mean anything anymore.

Another thing, I dont know why Blue Monday in 1983 passed me by. It must have got high in the single charts but I just never heard it. For someone who regulary watched TOTP and listened to the Sunday chart countdown Im surprised by this. Didnt Blue Monday get much airplay in 83? Or was I just to slow on the uptake?

True Fiath has to be my favourite. First New Order video I remember seeing was the Perfect Kiss on Whistle Test, but didn't realise that it was the video for the tune at the time. Don't ever remember any previous videos aired around release dates though !

Well, my favourite video is Confusion and Touched by the hand of god. Confusion because all people are dancing. Touched by the hand of god is funny, they´re a great fucking rockers in that video....:thumb:

true faith is nice. But Perfect kiss is a masterpiece. A Studio live recording directed by Jonathan Demme, with one of the best director of photography of all time, Henri Alekan.
