Following the success of the top 10 single, ‘Krafty’ and ‘Jetstream’, the superb collaboration with the Scissor Sisters’ Ana Matronix, New Order return with the sublime title track from their eight studio album. ‘Waiting For The Sirens’ Call’ was produced by the New Order themselves and the band consider it to be one of the best tracks they’ve ever made.

Waiting for the Sirens Call will be released on three separate 7”s only, remixed and back upped with exclusive tracks, a slipcase for all three discs will be available. Formats are as follows:

Disc 1: Waiting for the Sirens Call Rich Costley Radio Edit Temptation Secret Machines Remix

Disc 2: Waiting for the Sirens Call Band Mix Everything’s Gone Green Cicada Remix

Disc 3: Waiting for the Sirens Call Jacknife Lee Remix Bizarre Love Triangle Richard x Remix

Let's hope the radio stations pay it some attention.

Hopefully all formats will be released on the same day; otherwise there's going to be a lot of confusion (par for the course?).

I asked about the CD/DVD single and the reply was "didn't I just send you this?"... so I replied that it was only about the 3x7"...

I hope it's the b-sides that will be only on the 7"... the name of the file was New Order - Waiting for The Sirens Call single B sides PR.doc...

I got the confirmation.

Ah you see the twist is the only format ...Siren's Call is being released on is on 7"

Now I must say I'm pissed... let the hunt for promo CDs begin.. (or the hunt to put pressure on Warner USA to release it!)

Perhaps the real explanation is simply a desire to focus all attention on the DVD and the singles compilation without formally cancelling the WFTSC single.

My two cents on the matter:

After "Jetstream" being such a "hit", my guess is that Warner wasn't so keen on a 3rd single release. But the band (Barney, that is...) wanted it badly, so a compromise was found. The 7" only release is obviously marketed for the collectors, ie us, not for the general audience!

Well, let's home there will be some promo CDs, because there is no way I'm finding back the turntable I bought in the late 90's used just to be able to rip my record collection into mp3.

Your theory would be fine if they didn't shoot a video for it though, and released the promo single... but has anyone heard it on the radio yet??? :shrug:

Ok, continuing my correspondance with the person who sent me the press release...

The record company actually feel that by releasing the single in this format they'll be giving something back (?!) to the fans, as they're providing something that's really collectible and special.

I have left out the rest of the email, I think it was meant to remain private, but I'd agree with one thing she said.. they might have overlooked the fact that many people won't even be able to listen to it.

who gives a fuck? do you really want another bland cd single that will just lie there after you have listened to it once? im glad they are doing this,at least its a bit different and should look rather nice and dare i say it, isnt it a little bit factory?

The one track radio edit promo has been around for a while, but yes, it'll be interesting to see if they collect the mixes together on one or two promo CD's like they did with Krafty and Jetstream.

Maybe for you, but I just can't wait to listen to Richard X's remix of BLT... and seeing it will only be available on an analog format makes me sick.

I think you could be right. Maybe someone wasn't too keen to get 'WFTSC' released, preferring to get 'Turn' out before Xmas to publicize 'Item' and 'The Singles' for the Xmas market - then they realized that if 'WFTSC' didn't come out as a single, that would muck up the tracklisting for 'The Singles'!
