Perhaps he was going to make the point that Hooky recently said the song which reminded him the most of The Hac was indeed "Rhythm is a Dancer".

Pretty cheesy track, he may as well have said "1990 - Time for the Guru"...

Might have been a joke directed to Barney, who often requested Snap videos, whenever he got some air time on MTV in 1993.
Just wonder what Guru Josh is doing these days. Perhaps he is working at Burger King with Adamski.

You all are slagging some of my favorite 90s club tunes.
It sounds to me that Hooky was serious about 'Rhythm is a Dancer' being the ultimate Hacienda tune. He might not have been talking about the regular 12" version - I have the impression that the version they played most back then was the Purple Haze Mix by Dance 2 Trance - a great remix indeed.
When you put all of Snap's singles together from 1990-1994 (their heyday), they have a pretty good collection. Same with Black Box. Unfortunately, Adamski and Guru Josh weren't so lucky. Hope they ended up ok.....well, we know what happened to Adamski.
I still like Snap! to this day. RIAD really was a great track. They have a 2 disc collection with remixed/rerecorded versions of their hits and I have to say it makes for good listening. The new version of "Colour of Love" with Youssou N'Dour is fantastic.

Well along with this song, hits by Technotronic, C & C Music Factory, Two Unlimited, Dee-Lite, Felix come to mind... - the music I considered utterly shitty back then :) But now it seems to be just fine.

That Snap record was never played in The Hac.
The music is still shitty, but now we can enjoy it because we have such better options these days. I was a DJ in high school and that music was a major part of my life. Let's not forget Captain Hollywood Project, LaBouche and Real McCoy.

As a some times commercial dance music DJ, I must step in here defend Rhythm Is A Dancer, and point out that a track I've played a few hundred times is a Real McCoy track..
Its commercial, its cheesy. But hey, they're both better than Guilt Is A Useless Emotion....

I hope Hooky was not talking about Rhythim Is Rhythim 'The Dance' - that track, which was on New Order's 'Back To Mine' is not really Derrick May's best, imo, and I can't see how it would stick in his head so long.
Oh well, to each his own.
I'm going with RIAD (12" Version) or RIAD (Purple Haze mix by Dance 2 Trance), the latter of which, is featured on Old Skool Euphoria mixed by Altern 8. It's a stunning re-work.

Considering Snap was two German producers and hired front singers, I guess you mean Turbo B, who was only on their first few releases, and then again on their 2000's (shite) releases. Can't find anything to say he was evading arrest on the net, but he was american. As were all the female singers they had I believe.
The one on the left committed suicide. Milli Vanilli and LaBouche had the same producer: Frank Farian. This was the same guy who put Boney M together in the 70's. The studio keyboardist on Boney M's first few albums was Michael Cretu, who eventually started Enigma.
Turbo B recorded a song last year which was used in the closing credits of the movie House of the Dead. It wasn't released because HotD is one of the worst movies ever made so they didn't bother with a soundtrack.
Snap! has released a new 12" single called "Beauty Queen." Haven't heard it yet.
I know way too much about German pop.
