Why do chicks like NO?

Must be because of all the - ahem - hunky fellas they attract. Their gigs are like a meat market for the girls.
Honest.![]()
Yeah like Alex the Red for example. Or Rocket Mick. Old Monkey as well........ if you're into serial killer lookylikies
:bag:
Surely there are some chicks that never got to meet any of you good looking bastards but it hasn't stopped 'em from liking the band. Explain ... errr why they love them that is, not the fact that they never met you!
I love their music and I don't think this is a question of having "something" in the pants or not…
And to be more precise, I've heard their music long time before I saw a single picture from the band… nothing to do with "boys band" histeria for me. So don't go into naughty conclusion too soon !!!

I think cause lots of birds got into the dance/rave thing at the end of the 80's & New Order crossed over pop music & dance music. I know (as well as my bird) that 2 of her old raver mates Fave band is New Order
If only I could meet a girl who liked NO.
For some reason I seem to attract women who like Celine Dion and who think that "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" are the pinnacles of cinematic achievement. Not to mention the various wrist slashers, poisoners, stalkers, neurotics and lesbians that I also seem to attract.
I defy anyone to find me a moderately sane woman who also likes NO........impossible!
i reckon they are mythical creatures like unicorns.
because they're soooo babealicious and i liked collecting NO band stickers when i was a kid. we used at sit at the lunch table and talk about which one we would marry.
or...maybe it was because i loved NO's music from the first time i heard it. i had no idea they were considered a 'bloke's band' until i joined NOOL.
i did collect the michael jackson stickers, though; back when he was black.
Because all that synthy 80's music is for gender-bending poofs, so all female NO fans must be fag hags. ![]()
Isn't a bigger question "Why do New Order like chicks?"
the stereotypical 'chick' you're discussing is as mythical as a unicorn. When I hear talk like that, I wonder if I'm even a girl. I'm a serious musicfan.
I must be a unicorn.
Barney! Heh, heh, heh. I liked NO before I was even interested in boys! Not sure if there is a correlation there or not. But I do get a warm fuzzy feeling everytime I listen. They're just so,erm,so great. I can't even put it into words.

i'm sorry but no offence, i'm still confused
i get it. ;)
unicorns are pretty, too. just like barney.
My wife isn't a NO fan, but she likes some songs : True Faith, BLT... that is to say songs that make her dance. I wonder if other girls are in the same case, but I think girls like NO for that reason above all (which reason is totally different for me and some other guys, according to what I can read on this site).

I like them because I like their lyrics, their music, their music videos oh and especially Bernard!!!
Ummm, I'm not really sure. Beacuse I have good taste?
They make good music I suppose is why I like them. Thats what it should come down to with any band I suppose. The there's Steve. Smart, funny guy. 30 years my senior but dang he's fine - even though he's pushing 50 hes aged really well. But even if he wasnt fine they'd still be my fave band.
I'm curious which NO band member you'd pick to marry, AgentWood.

barney. no question.
Old Barnsey, hey?
I guess I would pick Steven, IF he wasnt married to the lovely Gillian (hey, I'm no homewrecker) and IF he was my age, or I was his!

could you explain that one...
You have to read ant's post - that's where the unicorn thing came from - post is about half way down page 1 of this thread

That's an important reason, yes!
i think some of the boys on this site have been hanging round with the wrong girls most of my female friends are as serious music fans as my male friends, the only difference being we don't sit around talking about catalogue numbers or japanese imports.we talk about boys instead. then we do each others nails and watch sex and the city**
**some of that was not true

Stop watching SATC and go fix my dinner! And get me a beer while you're at it!

They make fantastic music, simple as :) Surely that's the main reason why we all ultimately like them, regardless of gender.

I agree, I didn't realize they were a "guy" band when I got into them. I just love the music. I think it is part subliminal though.
I'm not a stereotype woman anyway, I armwrestle men twice my size, can drink half of them under the table and go watch Dinamo play.

Oh, for sure! And I'm definetly a unicorn. I mean, I fell in love with NO before I saw pictures of them. It was the music first, but the pictures sure didn't hurt...![]()
I think we should question why we need to ask this question? There are normally multiple reasons why anyone is attracted to anything.
Although, I have known of women who purposely develop interests in mainly male pursuits to pull a bloke. Have known people who did that with football and one possible one with New Order (not someone that posts, before anyone gets offended!).

No, sorry. Band for geezers. You know it Ness. Don't deny it. Now go and get the kettle on. Run along now.....

i know! amazing. i stand corrected about my assertion that there a a lack of ladies with musical taste.
it's the music and it's Barney. Don't remember which one I was attracted to first actually... 1983 is such a long time ago...!

drinking men under the table is hardly difficult. lightweights, all of them.

Why thank you! I greatly appreciate it.
I think New Order are a unique band because they can express such different emotions, so they are good for both the hooligan who can singalong to World In Motion and the shy girl who can enjoy things like Thieves Like Us, 1963 or Run. I think it's amazing they're mostly a band for male fans because they are not ashamed of doing sheer pop tunes and that's what attracts girls, like Pet Shop Boys do. I would rather think a trad rawk band like Oasis are mostly for boys, but songs like Bizarre Love Triangle should definitely appeal a female audience (check the Frente cover, see how the song sounds female)... Probably it's the indie rock attitude of other songs like Regret which keeps attracting mostly boys...

I know I haven't expressed myself clearly... it was like 4 AM and was falling asleep on the keyboard...
Anyway yes, I think the most of the fans of Pet Shop Boys are female, usually they're too uncool for boys, especially if they don't wanna look gay and, on the opposite, wanna look tough.

don't let spotnick read that! ;)
He's a fan, isn't he? Well, me too. Not quite everything, but I find Bilingual and Nightlife are absolute masterpieces. I couldn't care less if a band is cool or not. Well, I'm happy if they're successful, as a supporter of a football team is happy if his team wins... but it's different, the emotion of the music is what matters. I like The Darkness. Do you think they're too stupid? I don't care. I like them. I got used to be uncool when I told the stupid goths who were trying to keep me a Joy Division-only fan that Blue Monday was in fact becoming my favourite song ever. You should have seen the horror in their eyes.
"B-b-but... it's... D-DANCE! Shame on you!"

To which I reply: "No, fuck YOU!" ![]()
Why do I, as a girl, like NO? Because, like Mari, I'm a serious music fan. I like good music and NO make what I consider to be good music, simple as that. Plus, they've got a song for every mood and emotion.
BTW, just for the record (this is in reply to Ant's post), I hate Celine Dion and think that films like Dirty Dancing and Ghost are shite. Does that make me a unicorn? Just wondering.

Bollocks! My ex's fave band was friggin Modern Talking! ![]()
my ex liked JD more then NO. Unusual, i thought. She did however make Age of Consent the soundtrack to our breakup after 5 yrs together. I cant forgive her for that.
