With or Without Joy Division

So I decide to take Wifey to local bar .6 miles from our home. Just an easy downhill bicycle ride. Never been to this place, the FireHouse Lounge located across the street from Des Moines FireStation No.6. We have lived in the area close to ten years. I had no idea what to expect except that it should be relatively clean since it burned down and was rebuilt this year.

Kare e yoke key night. Listen to regulars make fools of themselves, so I thought. One sang U2's With or Without You. All I could think was "what a joy Division rip off." Listen to it sometime. you will see. you all will see.

And "Vertigo" rips off "Isolation," and even more closely does "Bullet the Blue Sky" rip off "I Remember Nothing." I played I Remember Nothing for the gf and she proved the point by chanting Bono's little "america" speech in time with the music.

I was thinking that With or W/O You was an Atmosphere rip off. Granted, faster. But the synth and the drumming (assume Steve was missing an arm) are very JD/NOesque.

I have a live bootleg of WOWY where Bono sings a bit of LWTUA at the end.

I think it would be a shame to JD if Bono ever openly assume being a JD fan.
