Hear Richard X's mix of Bizarre Love Triangle online now...

If you click here right now (for one week) and listen right from the start to Rob Da Bank's Thursday night 'One Music' show, you'll hear a brief Sonic Youth cover of The Simpsons theme, followed by the Richard X Remix of BLT. Wonder if he has a promo CD, or played it off the vinyl?? Bloody good it is too. Excellent remix. The tracklisting at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/onemusic/rob/ states it's from a CD single - so there must be CD promos out there with all the mives on somewhere, methinks... Time to get searching

By the way, listen from the start, and you'll also hear me announcing that there may be bad language on the show (Long story). I'm a One Music and John Peel "cult hero", basically... Well worth listening to the track after BLT in this stream as well - a cracking mash up of The Streets by Cassette Boy, very, very funny indeed.

Thanks for the tip! Very slightly disappointed with the remix if only because it's maybe a bit too faithful. However, that seems to be the line he straddles with his heroes. The "Jetstream" mix is faithful and yet a marked improvement at the same time. I guess I just wanted him to bring the energy of "10 Dollar" or even "Some Girls" to it. Will have to reappraise when I get a better quality version. Can you tell us if it was played from a CD or vinyl?

The intro is very VERY good.

It's not too far from the Crystal Method remix I must say.

I agree with Spotnick on this one. This remix is alot like the Shep mix, yet has certain aspects that make it stand alone. IMO. I like it. And I like Barneys DODODODO's. Nice touch.

With his Jetstream mix, I was expecting some Hooky in there.

Nevertheless, it's quite a good remix... I think I prefer it to the Crystal Method remix.

Actually, on my third listen now, and I hear Hooky's bass during the verses AND choruses. the parts are quiet though.

erm, not sure about this mix,sounds like mr x is getting lazy! Dont like the do do do's,sounds a bit gay to me!

You cant beat the substance version!

i actually like this version better than the extended dance mix from Substance.

the Brotherhood version and the 7" version are still tops in my opinion.

CD, if the tracklisting here is to be believed. Keep on the look out for CD promos with all 6 tracks from the 7"s on, I reckon..!

Easy to forget, Hooky's bass is completely missing from the Shep 12" version.

The doo doo doos are on The Stephen Hague mix, those that have never heard The Stephen Hague mix will have never of known of those doo doo doos before. But as Richard X had access to the master and all original individual sounds, he simply decided to include it on his mix. Overall the mix sounds alright, quite futuristic, not bad at all.

Personally I love any version of BLT with digitised Barney singing on it.

I like the majority of it but the arpegiated synth part that mimics the string (after second verse and in the end chorus) sounds like together in electric dreams, not too good that bit, Hooky could do with being a little more upfront and as most agree should do his excellent solo to end it rather than fade which I should think it does.

Overall though I like it and will probably anoy my neighbours playing very load on the car stereo going to work at 5:30 am

Serious question here... sorry if I sound a bit thick, but is the Stephen Hague version not the same as on the Best Of New Order album??? As in 'Bizarre Love Triangle-94' as I heard no 'doo doo doos' on that version. And also, is there any way to get hold of these exclusive new remixes, and are they much cop?? :)

well after hearing the Richard X remix i have to admit it's excellent compared to the crap remixed of other songs that floods the market every day. Maybe the sound would be better when everyone listens to in on CD.

very catchy remix...better than the segue between Erasure's "A Little Respect" and the 12" mix of BLT that I heard out at a club tonight.

'Bizarre Love Triangle-94' is exactly the same as the Stephen Hague remix on 'Married To The Mob', bar a slight change in reverb/effects and the fact that you hear the 'doo doo doo' bit after the first chorus. it's the bit that Gillian usually played on with a synth string pad live, just sung by Barney. Classic bit - if Stephen Hague had put it on the 94 version he'd have created the definitive mix.

Looking at that Warners Promo CD, two things occur: Firstly, there's another 'Everything's Gone Green Mix' on there (Martin Buttrich Remix), and the 'Temptation' and 'BLT' mixes are referred to as 'full length' - take it that means the seven inch versions out tomorrow will be edited down? If so, even more need for a CD single! Must track down this promo...

just heard it - think its really good , especially the intro

Very nice! My only complaint is that the chorus lets you down just a bit after the arpeggio. You have a great build up falling into an empty sounding chorus so you lose lot of impact after the transition. The synth bass sounds fantastic.

But not the big bass solo ending the album version (orgasmic bass solo might I add)

Note that before I bought Brotherhood, BLT for me was Substance's version, so I'm used to this song without the solo... ;)

I think any remix serious about BLT should have the big Bass synth crescendo included at the end.The brotherhood version has yet to be bested for me.
