Perhaps the one thing more surprising than retail celebrity Campbell McDougall's decision to open a guerrilla concept men's store was that he decided to do it in Vancouver. But the fashion industry isn't rolling its eyes in embarrassed disbelief yet.

McDougall is no stranger to risky reinvention. His latest venture, men's boutique Komakino (named after an old Joy Division tune), is his fourth retail concept in 16 years. It follows hot on the heels of Vancouver's widely celebrated but now defunct electronica-inspired men's and women's store Bruce, and Alberta's Oxygen and Fritz Lang before that.
