New Order - In Store Fri 25/01/2002 - REPORT + next single

Back after getting my 60mph single signed...

Bernard, Steve and Peter were all there. About 200-300 people lined up and after a relatively short wait we all were ushered past the chaps.

Bernard was smiling and quite friendly. Steve looked pretty spooked by the whole affair. Peter was sipping some fine Australian wine and enjoying himself.

I asked Bernard if the next single is going to be "Here to Stay". Yes, he confirmed, it was finished after xams, just before they came here. This is the single with the Cemical Brothers (who are playing here in few weeks too.)

i did get a sms during the signing and was told they were all pretentious bastards!!

Felt great after the signing...even dragged my missus along to pose as a fan...so I can collect a few more signatures..

Highlight was having my JD Heart & Soul boxset front signed by all three next to Ian's face.....

Barney looked pretty relaxed and happy, Steve's always cheery and Hooky's very friendly to fans...

My Lowlife LP was re-decorated when Barney drew a Zorro moustache on Steve's face on the front before signing it...and Steve retaliated by putting an Adolf moustache on Barney in the inner sleeve. Hooky signed on his photo in the inner sleeve.

Today's signing is a great experience for me because I've never seen so many vintage New Order records turned up among fans....Temptation 12", Substance cassette box-set, EGG 12"......WOW!!!!

when woz the last time they done a signing in the UK.. :(

Anyone who got their stuff signed is now on my list of people to kill before 2010. Thankyou.

Fookin' raining in London Jarvo !!

There was a tornado just outside Middlesbrough today, Sloppo, if that's any consolation......some one probably sang along to RTS too loudly somewhere me thinks.....

Well, I've been waiting 20 years to meet them and finally managed it in Sydney. Took my Mrs and baby daughter (5 weeks old) along. By the time we were at the front time was running out and we were told they were only signing 1 item each so thought they might be bored/pissed off etc.

Thought the baby might score a few points and commented as such. Barney laughed and asked should he sign the baby. Stephen just looked bemused. Hookey was on fine form he ended up taking the baby of me. We all posed for a couple of photos, then he kissed on the forehead before handing her back saying "feel like a bloody politician". Touched by the hand of God indeed. All in all they were on good form considering what must be a mindless job - no way were they pretentious.

Only downer was I had to buy the bleeding album again as I'd forgotten it. Still I got 'yellow' 7" Everythings Gone Green/Procession signed.
