Warner/London

Many of the posts in this forum seem to show that the fans (me included) are not particularly happy with Warner/London for various reasons.

Can anyone with a bit of inside info help answer the following questions.....

1. What is NO's deal with the company - how many more albums are they contracted for? Maybe the WFTSC sessions getting split into 2 albums is a way of fulfilling the contract as quickly as possible.

2. Do NO have a good relationship with the company - maybe they are happy with the way things are?

Trouble is - even if NO do move on, then Warners will presumably still own the back catalogue, repackaging and releasing it again and again and again and again.........

Does anyone on here have a contact at Warner/London who they could pass on the various grievances to? It would be good feedback for them... and you never know, they may even take some of the criticism on board!

Warner/London will Maximise profit without regard for fans,thats what corporate crime/buisness does..particularly the music buisness.We don't trust them.Why should we?

As far as London goes, they went to Factory during the bankrupt days and basically made a deal with the banks for Joy Division,New Order and the Happy Mondays.

With Mondays self imploding, only 2 albums (Still doesn't count) to exploit from JO's catalog, they probably assumed they were good for 4-5 albums from the mighty NO. Afterall, they did manage 5 albums in a 8 year timeframe (never to happen again for any band in this era).

Well, we all know the story, band makes lackluster album, implodes and hates each other for an extended period of time. What is London to do? Bleed the back catalog f**kin dry that's what. It's sad that such a prolific band will have more compilations than new material released in the last 12 years. But that's what happens when theirs contracts to fill.I guess....

We may be unhappy with London, but at least as long as New Order are signed with a major, then their records will continue to be published and reasonably well distributed.

does any have any realistic bitches against Warner/London? seems like they have been decent enough with New Order, and I'm surprised that they have not tried to exploit Joy Division more... they did release a New Order box set, a full video compilation, a full singles compilation, a decent supported new album with maybe 4 singles, including a cool triple 7" set... how is the record company screwing New Order?

the compilations seem to be a lack of focus and wishy washy decision making, which is probably at least part fault of New Order themselves and their management

I think Warners is doing just fine with them. WFTSC did reasonably well for a band their age. I think the Item and WFTSC 7" singles were cool ideas.

The main job of theirs is just to get the name 'new order' out there, which they're doing quite well. People see it enough times and they'll investigate.

Yeah, International was pointless for me (and had typos!) and so is Singles. But too many compilations is a pretty small complaint. Nobody is forcing you to buy them.

My major complaint is with Rhino in the states, completely butchering the Saville design so much that it's not even his design anymore, which is a totally clueless thing to do if they had the slightest of what NO fans want.

I'm glad to finally see some sanity. Warner's done New Order alright. There's been more stuff put out this year then a long time.

Maybe people just have a hard time accepting that the U.S. owns one of England's finest.

Warners are doing just what any major would do, plus all the compilations are the band's wishes anyway.

They DO also butcher Saville's artwork on all those cheap and nasty issues of the back catalogue, I mean Closer is YELLOW for f**ks sake! LowLife has the wrong font, all the London crap written all over them is far away from any original design intentions.
