pc&l plus extra tracks

just noticed this at hmv.co.uk

it's PC&L with slightly diff artwork plus 2 bonus tracks.

is this an american or japanese import?

That's the US version.

Completely ruins the running order of a classic. Like watching a film on ITV with the news half way through.

I agree. What were they thinking?

US marketing bosses always marr British LPs (as early as it was with the Beatles). :)

That's why i made an effort to find and buy the UK import so that i can listen to it properly. Plus, listening to albums from start to finish is starting to be more and more of a lost art, esp. w/ iTunes and insta-music. I love the running order of PC&L, and highly recommend anyone who really wants to get into New Order (or any band that really focused on album-making like The Smiths, Radiohead, etc.) to listen to each of their albums start to finish.

Hoenstly, I always thought New Order albums were always 10 minutes too short.

Not to be anti-purist but I like how 'Blue Monday' comes in after '586' and then at the end, you get 'The Beach'.

There are plenty of import albums where the tracklistng has been ruined by the time it reaches the States but this is not one of them.

When this album came out in the States in 1985, I think Qwest thought it'd a) be hard to sell a "new" band with only 8 tracks onthe album and b) 'Blue Monday' was such a big record, it needs to be on this album.

To each his own, that's why I have the UK album and a programming function on my CD player in case I change my mind. :)

i personally prefer the original pc&l which did not include blue monday and the beach. It flows so much better. you can get this on import. the import for brotherhood is great as well 'cause it contains state of the nation as a bonus track

when i amazon'd ITEM i decided to get PCL because it was eaten by my cassette player, along with low-life. it too included blue monday and the beach. it caught me by surprise cuz i didn't remember it on the tape. i guess i'm ok with it.:\ohwell:

Also, I would like to add, that in the new book 'True Faith: The Armchair Guide to New Order' Rob Gretton said, regarding putting the two extra tracks on PC&L that it was "one of the smartest moves they've ever made".

because the version on substance as well as the cd single is a crappy remix. at least the version on the import brotherhood is not as hard on the ears

What are you talking about? State of the Nation on Brotherhood is exactly the same as the Substance version - i.e. the 12" version! Not getting mixed up with BLT perhaps, are you?
