...if you also bought 'A Collection' as well as 'Singles', simply download this program, pop the DVD into your PC DVD drive and use the above program's browser to locate TITLE 2/CHAPTER 19 for the Run 2 video soundtrack (identical to the vinyl 7" mix). Select '2 ch' sound setup and rip it (normalised) as a 44khz/16-bit wave file.

Finally, reburn a copy of Singles Disc 2 with the ripped wave in place of the Technique Run and there you have it :) The original Run 2 seven inch version, and in pristine quality too. Other recommended rips from the DVD would be the Confusion and Perfect Kiss video sountracks :thumb:

We've actually done quite well with these releases, around 8 never-before-on-CD edits on Singles, and digital soundtracks to all the videos. No more crappy VHS conversions yay :D

Cheers for that info Ally, could definately prove useful to a lot of people in here.

if only they had included the original blue monday video we'd have a perfect version of the official edit or radio mix for blue monday, i guess some people don't want that, but it would have been nice to have after all this time.........that's my main regret! oh well...........i like the video edit of BLT too!

The version of Run on Singles is about a minute shorter than on Technique, though. 4:31 as opposed to about 5:20. Is this then a new edit of the Technique version?

Er, the version of Run on Singles is identical to the Technique album version (4:31). Perhaps you are getting mixed up with the Extended Mix on the 12" vinyl single which is an entirely different version? The Run 2 (Extended Mix) is not available on CD and certainly isn't on Technique.

It is available on a number of unofficial bootlegs however, vinyl sourced of course..

Or if anyone has the program Cool Edit, you can just record it directly to that. That's what I did.

Is the video version really "Run 2"?

I have to say that the video version sounds much more like the album version than the "Run 2" which appears on my 'Excerpts from Recycle' disc.

The version on 'Excerpts from Recycle' (which I also own) is the Extended Version of Run 2, not the seven inch version which I am talking about here. The seven inch version is basically a shorter, slightly different mix of the Technique version. The only place to find the seven inch of Run 2 is the 12" single, 7" DJ promo, the newly discovered cassette promo, or the soundtrack of the video.

Up until now we only had a vinyl or VHS source of Run 2 (Seven inch), now with 'A Collection' we have the first digital source thanks to a quick rip of your DVD disc. This entry in the New Order Discography may clear things up :)
