whilst doing some bored googling I came across this http://www.jewwatch.com/jew-entertainment-folder.html Joy Division are listed nearish the top, WTF, this I do not get at all. It says its not a hate site but it still strikes me as being weird and creepy. Are they on the list just because of the name? Or is the person who compiled it just mental?

i can't find them. but as they have pope john paul II on the list of famous jews it makes me wonder as to the site's legitimacy!

weird site--links to both anti-semitic and pro-zionist sites without any discussion as to what the initial site means.

I have no idea regarding Stephen, Peter, Bernard or Ian's religious preference (I'm not remotely bothered so long as it doesn't overly affect the music) but I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in saying it's depressingly ironic to see an entry for 'Joy Division' on a site for 'monitoring Jews in showbusiness'. I don't buy this "this is not a hate site, this is for academic research" bollocks, what possible reason could they have? I'm not Jewish and happen to have no Jewish friends at this point in time but even I'm having a hard time seeing the point of such a site.

Obviously most New Order/JD fans know Joy Division is a term derived from SS soliders in concentration camps taking female Jewish prisoners for sexual pleasure.

Fun fun fun... :\ohwell:

erm didnt even look at the site that the guy above wa talking about,neo-nazi bollocks anyways.

Just to point out the "joy division" didnt take jewish women for sexual pleasure, this was strictly verboten. In fact soldiers "took" many nationalities into their dens of inequity but definately not jewish women.

Trust me i watch the discovery channel!!!! :D

it would be laughable if it weren't so disgusting. I'm talking about the site not the JD moniker which is a whole different discussion.

I think it's Fiction, rather than Fact though, Ally. It was a term coined in the novel 'House of Dolls' and I don't think it had any substance during WWII whatsoever.

Now, hands up who owns a copy of said novel because of this link, but has never read it! :read:

I'd heard it so many times so thought it was probably fact (I'd never made the House of Dolls link before, silly me) but after a quick Google I see you're correct, a slang term in 'House of Dolls' indeed. It's still pretty ironic to see it on this ever so slightly strange 'Jew Watch' site though.

Ah well, this thread is incredibly cheery isn't it? Have you seen that that girl band the Sugababes are releasing a new album that has a track called 'Joy Division' on it? Apparently about dangerous men or something (not a tribute Ian C and co. unfortunately), talk of it being a single for them although I'm generally not a fan of such poppy R&Bness.
