Melbourne BDO review

Just back from seeing New Order play the BDO in Melbourne. Set list was something like this: (around 70min) Crystal Transmission Regret Rock The Shack 60mph Your silent face Close range Bizarre love triangle True faith Temptation Love will tear us apart Blue monday

This is the 3rd time I have seen New order, & the first since their last shows here in 1987. For the second time i was dead centre on the fence. The show started with Barney pissed of about how bright the sun was and in an average mood. Initial problems were also evident with Hooky's mike not on! Initial impressions were this was to be one of those shows where Barney wants to be somewhere else! But miracles do happen, and somehow things got better. So much so that it seemed that Barney even managed to have a good time! Highlights: Barney telling Steve to go faster in LWTUA, Barney talking in general between songs & at the start of BM, watching Hooky play bass (for how many more years will Hooky's legs let him adopt that pose?), and drop numerous items of stage eqipment(almost onto) the security blokes below!(very funny) hearing Transmission live & Temptation. Lowlight? Dropping a copy of the setlist! That it is over. Being critical, the initial technical problems in Crystal, Your silent Face didn't quite gel, and Barney sure doesn't know Rock the shack that well!

Anyway, looking forward to show 2 on Wednesday and the signing.. Hopefully will get Ceremony, Atmosphere, Isolation, and Love Vigilantes. Can only hope!

Its not a decent concert unless hooky completely cocks up BLT, hits the drum machine in completely the wrong place and sings badly. Barney also must forget lyrics despite them being right in front of him, mess up rock the duck, and make stupid comments. These are the things we expect!

Talbs, if you are up for some pre concert drinks just post here today and i will either get back to you or e-mail me. I was thinking about trying to organise some people from NOOnline to get to Bridie O'Reillys for a drink.

Crystal was first not Ceremony. I was also dead centre on the fence, and i got a salute from Hooky when i yelled at him. I thought that Bizzare Love Triange was a bit weak and Your Silent Face was also cocked up a bit.

I really was out of it last night, putting Ceremony instead of Crystal, and leaving 60mph of the list. Noticed MX gave NO the thumbs up today, descibing them as "best on ground". Couple of queries - What time is Gaslight signing tomorrow. Gaslight window and entry laminate said 4pm, but 2pm been suggested in the press. Also does The Metro allow cameras?
