I just had a work-related phonecall from an Australian named Adam Read......not the same one as on here surely ? I didn't ask.

Adam lives in Sydney & it's gone 2 o'clock in the morning over here so it would seem unlikely. But you never know...

Oh, & on a technical point, our Adam's a Kiwi ;)

Well it was about 3 hours ago, and concerned the line of business in which he works, having traced his company through his email address on the profile. I can't tell the difference between an Aussie and a Kiwi down a phone !

That's like an Aussie not being able to tell the difference between a Brummie & a Worcesterman. But then, is there much? :D

The Kiwi remark was just a light interlude, I couldn't tell either when I met Adam. And he has lived in Oz for a fair while.

So Adam, when your next on line, was it you? v spooky if it was.

Talking of small worlds, a big Oirishman only comes over to Johnny Giles whilst we're in the Rocks in Sydney and asks him if he knows the Leeds-Arse result (JG is wearing a Billy Bremner top) and this fella is only the landlord of me work's local! Halfway round the world and we've ended up in the same pub! Now that's a small world.

I met a guy from Partick up the Great Wall of China (Badaling Pass) and an American bird whose mum grew up in the same street as mine working in a bar in NYC.

I didn't see this line until this evening - I am originally a Kiwi, but been in Sydney now since '86. Almost converted over.

And no that was not me on the phone...

boring smart arsey answer

aussies say "chyps" & "sics" for chips & six, kiwis say "chups" & "sucks"

try & work those words into the conversation & you're sorted.
