I get the feeling that we're none too popular with some people....

I was googling the NOOL Peel Tribute earlier and came across the discussion of the gig on the British Sea Power forum of all places, and some wag there had the die-hard contingent down as a bunch of c***s. It's set off quite a heated debate over there ...

You should visit the "Ceremony" forum more often, Mark. I posted this very same link two days ago and bit of a war started since then.

Cheers for that suggestion - I don't know the link/URL for that forum though.

hah hah now they are linking to this forum! it's going to set up some weird space time thing where we are forever in the same loop if we're not careful.

as i see it a couple of them had some drunken people next to them. they are calling them vikings.

most of the bunch in the pub that i was with left for sfa. they admit themselves to doing the same thing at other gigs so it does rankle.

they shouldn't have used the word viking in their first post - the problme wouldn't have been so bad then. JG posits a very good post (as does ms aubergine - btw cath if you see this the other board you used to post on hasn't changed that much - but the people before who were such idiots have got worse if anything)

And of course, we, like New Order, should make it our lives ambition to be liked by all and sundry and nevver cause any offence to anyone whatsoever :)

Nomination for 'post of the week'.

Sums up my attitude perfectly.

well, it's like this. The ball scratching, open mic gobhiting, who the fuck cares attitude is what makes new order different. They got where they are despite themselves, not because of some cleverly honed campaign ;)

And besides, those numpties are just jealous that whoever THEY'd gone to see didn't rock the planet it's axis.

(broad belfast accent) "do you know who my da is, I'll have yee fucking shat"

I hate fighting, but this is a matter of New Order, I'll get me bass :)

I remember when it all kicked off between the Conflict & New Model Army fans...

Needless to say, the EMI sell-outs got pasted every time.

I just don't fancy the idea of wandering to gigs and matches tooled up again. I'm too old for that nowadays!

Besides, I reckon that most of the people posting on that particular site just saw/heard a mention of 'Vikings' and presumed...

Best let it lie - it's the music we all love, not the fighting. Isn't it? :evil4:

Even better plan....

I walk up to em in the bar, and VERY gently set a large holdall down, then in a VERY broad NI accent say "watch ma bag there boys" and wink.

45 seconds later, we have their seats, and their unfinished drinks :)

from yesterdays observer

"the band's all-male fan brigade (hi ness!) lurched to the front nearly knocking out Bernard Sumner's teeth in the process. The propulsive beauty of Transmission & She's Lost Control seemed lost on that coterie, but not on the rest of the crowd.

It's hard to imagine that Peel would have been impressed by the lairiness down the front."

because of course, John was a shrinking violet who went everywhere in a big BBC limo with 14 bodygaurds. FFS!

Mind you, if any innocents were really maimed, that's not so good. As long as it was all consenting vikings, their detractors can use their remaining braincell to rearrange this sentence... "balls my suck"

 Ha ha ha....this is getting quite amusing. I could well imagine some sort of crazy scenario where the BSP fans unite as one to battle it out with the NO contingent to hilarious Keystone Cops effect... but there is one slight advantage the BSP bunch might have over us. And that is their penchant for dressing in military threads. Some of them might even possess some tanks with which to crush us all - can we borrow Steve Morris's if it indeed all came to this? :spit:

But how many of us are ex-squaddies?

Sounds like it was a great night!

I can never figure out why some people get so upset by things like this. It's a fooking concert! I'm glad folks could stand up and show some enthusiasm at Peel's gig. And a bit of spontaneity, which is generally lacking in organised events like this anymore. As long as no one gets hurt or things get badly smashed up, it's fine by me.

What a bunch of dickheads. Some of the stuff that was being said over there demanded the response of Irelands leading car salesman.

The Observer piece is shocking. There is a response letters part in the review. I say there could be words.
