Alright, I got NewOrder's typed setlist from the Area One concert last August and I sit and wonder what this KW1 is.

Here is what the setlist says: Atmosphere Regret Crystal Love will tear us KW1 Turn my way Bizarre love triangle Touched True Faith Temptation 60 MPH Blue Monday

Looking at the setlist on the site I don't see Your Silent Face, could that be KW1?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

Your Silent Face is indeed KW1. So named bacuase it was the first track they done that sounded like Kraftwerk. Hope that helps. :smoking:

in fact it nearly IS Kraftwerk. Worthwile to have in one's recordcollection, Kraftwerk albums that is!

I was gonna say something cheeky like "Kraftwerk Cover", but apparently I wouldn't have been too far off.

What do you recommend, April? I'm low on cash right now (the downside of having student loans paid off) but was thinking of getting Trans-Europe Express.

I have to admit that my favorite of theirs is The Mix. That is just my opinion though! :)

Actually, Your Silent Face was done with Trans-Europe Express samples, that's why KW1.

Autobahn is my prefered KW's album.

No it wasn't. It was simply recorded in homage to it - ie. in a similar style.

The ones I listen to most are Trans-Europe Express, Autobahn and Man Machine.

Trans-Europe Express was NOT sampled for YSF, however Madonna used a great big slice of it for "Music".

I've always been a bit partial to 'Electric Cafe' and of course this was played as the intro music before Brixton '87.

I would recommend 'The Mix' if you've not got other stuff, as its their greatest hits remixed, but as Old Bluey said the Man Machine is right out of the top drawer.

Tabs, the Kraftwerk song YSF reminds me of most is Neonlicht of the Man Machine album. That's is my favourite regular Kraftwerk album. There's a lot of compilations around but the best one is The Mix for which they rerecorded their biggest hits in 1991. Try to get the German version if possible.
