just arrived back home from the signing at gaslight. I arrived about 1pm, and there was already perhaps 120 people queued up, started chatting to these people in the line (big hello to you all) and a couple of people recognised me as "the guy who can't get in tonight". Anyway the boys were of course late, the line started to move about 2:20ish and i went through the first time and got my Technique signed, then we lined up again and went through a second time and i got my Get Ready signed, and Hooky recognised my from the first time and tryed to get all the others vinyls of me to sign but security/No crew wouldn't let him. Then i told Barney of my prediciment regarding tonight and he had a good ole chuckle and said "how embarassing".

They all seemed to be in good spirts and enjoying the meaningless banter with gushing fans, Barney looked like he had a very big night out on the town and to a lesser extent Hooky and Steve. In the end they issued 300 tickets to get in, but im sure a few people like us went through twice, they signed what ever you had, but you could only tak in one thing.

hey Mitch, Hooky told me they had been to the aquarium, which is odd cos I havent even been there. But he was good and I got Technique signed.

I heard Barney saying i cant wait to get home and I said to him I thought he would like it here in Melbourne, he said he did like it here and he would try to come here more often, meaning like they make come back round 2011.

Yes a big hi to all I saw there, u all seemed like really cool people and hope to see anyone from here who is going tonight there!

Hey Mitch and Alex ... Danny here (the one in line dressed in a bowl of fruit 'suit')... Great to have met you guys in the line at Gaslight today... The whole chatting thing just added to the excitment of the day. But I must say nothing quite topped shaking hands with the man himself (Mr.Sumner) as I thanked him for the music. I phoned both Teresa and Anistasia later this arvo to see if there was anyone scalping tix, but they said there were quite a few around trying to buy them. Can't say I'm pleased about sitting here at my PC when I should be at a fucking New Order gig... I think I'm suffering a mild anxiety attack ... I better get another coffee. Hope to catch up with you guys again sometime/somewhere ...(and anyone else that was hangin' around). Cheers, Danny.

Yeah well i didn't get to the gig either, even though i informed barney that he should be putting me on the guest list. Im just sitting round waiting for a tracklisting from the gig, because im going to be pissed if they played anything different.

Played anything different ? Apart from a few bum notes maybe on the non-mimed songs.........?

Hey Mitch.. I thought you said you were going to be hanging out the front of the Metro with your ear to the glass doors.... WHat happened to THAT plan..??

Well i rang a mate who was going and he said what Teresa and Anistasia said, lots of people looking for tickets, no one selling. As as for the glass up against the wall plan, well lets just say its not the ideal way to experence New Order.

Hello Mitch, Danny, Tersea and anyone else I meet today.

It's me anastasia (the one in the vivid blue jacket)... Oh this is so exciting. I will post a letter when I'm finished. For now you can contact me at comsat63@hotmail.com. I would love to hear from you all. I felt so much like a teenager today. It was just fantastic wasn't it? My legs are killing me after all that standing, I am feeling it now, but earlier I am sure I could have walked on hot coals as I was on such a high.

I couldn't remember whether you had tickets Danny, I see you don't. Not to worry we still had a great time today. They were so nice as the people I meet today. I hope to meet up with you all again soon.

More to come, you guys are going to kick yourselves when you read what I have to say. Remember you can contact me on that email address. I do not have email access at work so I will see your letters in the evening.

Hello Mitch, Danny, Teresa and anyone else I meet today.

Woohoo what a day, Let me tell you guys I am still on a high. So it was you that called Danny. I am sorry I didn't hear the call. When I went to retrieve the phone number I accidentally deleted everything. I was so annoyed with myself. So sorry about that. Danny I am still very much interested in see the Tea Party if you still want to. Teresa is keen I believe. I will call tomorrow. If that’s ok with you.

Anyway, let me tell you guys what Teresa and I did after you guys left. We hung around outside talking to some other fans, I was so excited about the day’s events and I will never forget that ‘Perfect Kiss’ from Hooky, he’s my hero too, so it was all the more sweeter. Anyway, we hung around for about 20 mins then the doors opened again. Danny, Mitch I am sure you will be kicking yourselves. I told you to stay Danny, but I realise work beckons, bloody work. Anyway, they were still lurking about inside. Stephen was there as was my hero Hooky. I called out to Peter and he turned. Teresa and I got pictures taken with him, he put his arm around me and god knows what the pictures will be like, as I didn’t know where the hell I was. It was all very surreal actually don’t you think?

I asked him for tickets he said ,”see Barney”, we said,”where is he?” Peter said ‘he was suffering from something along the lines of ‘Grumpyitis’”. What a laugh. I am sure Teresa has the correct word he said but it was along those lines, she will correct this little bit. I knew I would forget that word. Anyway, we did ask if we could come along to the sound check and he said they couldn’t allow some in and others not. I ask that I be put on the guest list, but again he was really nice and said he couldn’t. He said maybe next time. Well here’s hoping. He said a lot more but you know I was just mesmerised. Anyway, I am sure Teresa will remember most of this encounter as I didn’t know what the hell was going on. I was in awe and I couldn’t even speak and somewhere in there I got another kiss, I will never wash my cheek again. :-) Let me tell you I was ‘Touched by the lips of Hooky’. :-) What an experience. They were all so nice, weren’t they?

We also took pictures with Stephen and he said he was in a hurry but he still took the time to please us. They went out the back. Teresa and I then went to the Metro we went upstairs and asked if there were any tickets and there weren’t. I am so angry with myself for missing out. Anyway after that we went for a drink at the pub on the corner of Bourke and Spring Street. We were there for a little while although we only had one drink. We went back to the Metro where people were lining up for tonight. I was there for a little while, what else could I do, I was soaking up the atmosphere and so pleased with myself for not going home after we got our first item signed. If it were for you guys and especially Tersea I would not have hung around all that time on my own. So thank you guys for such a lovely day. We spoke to others in the line and there was one guy there who was a split image of Neil Finn. Everyone was so nice there too.

Mitch we heard them rehearsing, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Crystal, someone said Ceremony or was it Procession you could hear things ok, they did other tracks but I don’t remember them now.

Danny there was one girl in the line and see was willing to give her ticket away for a $1000. We told her she was mad, no one would give it up for that amount. I know I wouldn’t. There was about 3 of us without tickets just lurking about. I doubt whether they would have got in, we asked again and again for tickets. Teresa would have hung around with those in line so she would have been ok for the night. I can’t wait to hear how the concert was as she would have been up front. I got home about 7.30pm.

To all the lovely people I meet today, thank you for a lovely day it was really nice to meet people who have the same music taste as me. It’s very rare I come across people like you, so please keep in touch. We can even exchange music if you wish. I know bands you have never heard of and who knows they may blow your mind as they still do me. Keep in mind that I have ‘Revenge’ material.

By the way I didn’t know about this message board until today and here we all are.

Well the gig has probably finished now and it’s time for bed, I’m still on a high actually and my legs are killing me.

Night, anastasia 12.31am 31 Jan. 02 Aussie time.

no need to ruin a good story, Anastasia.

Anyway the gig was really good, my mate nearly belted 2 guys, but it was most entertaining. I mya post a review when i can be bothered.

I dunno bout the sex part, but there was violence of sorts, good to see emotions still ride high at new order gigs I guess

Gee, some people are spoiled - a kiss from Hooky! (as my eyes burn with rampant jealousy ;))

However, I still can't believe I met them - and Hooky was so sweet! I also got my fave vinyl personally signed... now to get it framed. :)

Who'd have thought somebody my age could revert to schoolgirl mode after all this time? What a simply incredible day. :)

Hey Alex, you said that Barney said he liked Melbourne and would like to come back more often ... Did he sound sincere in saying this ? Im just praying that they come back again soon ... Or sometime in the future !!

I think he was trying to appease me, but at the same time I reckon he would want to come out here more often, I will join him sailing the Whitsundays.

Hi Alex,

Not sure what you or the other guys are talking about. Must be your dirty minds. I meant nothing by my comments.

We know you didn't. It's just the way people are here. Don't be offended. It's nice to see all the new folks here apparently as a result of the Australian performances.

This is what it's all about, and always has been about. People buy the records and think they are great. Then they get to see them live and are blown away by the power and the awesome sound of hearing their favourites played live. You can't beat it. It's a pity you had to wait 15 years for some shows in Australia, but I'm sure it was worth it. From what I've read in all the reviews, it certainly was :)

Hi to everyone I met at the signing and the gig in Melbourne...it was great to have met you all and learn I'm not the only New Order/ Joy Division freak left on the planet. You guys/girls are the best!! :hi: :D

Still haven't come down from the high methinks...it was just the most amazing day. Anastasia has already told you what we both got up to after the signing was over so I won't bother being repetetive. It's all a bit of a blur to me too. All I know is I was trying hard not to get over-excited and gushy and not necessarily succeeding. I can still remember Hooky actually telling me in a friendly way I can calm down now.

Oh by the way, Anastasia, the words Hooky used to describe Barney's state of health when I asked him where he'd gotten to was "he has a case of miserable-itis".

Funny about that isn't it? Still love ya, Barney!! :D
