So the announcement that The Chemicals collaboration will be the next NO release is welcome news for those of us who loathe the idea of bands milking their albums for pointless remixes etc... It will be interesting therefore to see how this will do chartwise and whether or not the combined might of both sets of fans will help give this one the jolt it so needs to restore (possibly) flagging interest in both bands. I see the Chems "Come With Us" LP is out this week but as for its fate one can only wait til Sunday to see if it will be their third no1. LP . Their "Star Guitar" single hit number 8 - equalling the placing of "It Began In Afrika", (which I thought was pretty piss poor for a Chems single anyroad) so the signs are the Chems will probably still go top three, if not no.1.

One only hopes that when "Here To Stay" is released, the useless record company don't undertake their usual balls-up that we've come to expect of them and shift the bloody release date back, making it clash with about 400 other "big" chart acts, thus once again depriving the band of a top 20 placing - let alone a top 10 one. In fact, if this single stiffs, I've a feeling London Records will just drop New Order. It may well happen.

So, "Here To Stay" - will it do as it's title so optimistically suggests? It's Make or Break time for The Order, me reckons. Seriously.

You'd think they would try a bit harder this time....but then again..... Maybe they're hoping because it's a collab with the Chems - they won't have tae bother (again) Let's hope not eh? It's all down to Radio 1 and whether they put it on the A list, isn't it?

If it don't get played on daytime radio, nothing will happen.

I reckon it'll get to No.1 if it is marketed properly and is as good as has been mooted in a previous thread - 'old dance pioneers team up with new dance pioneers'

Surely they can't go wrong with this, can they?

Chems and New Order unleashed at last? That's welcome news indeed! Like you all, I also hope against all hope that this next one will do well - but like Mickey says if the big bods at Radio 1 don't playlist it then it'll probably lead balloon and yet another great opportunity will be pissed away once more. The Chems have got their new lp out this week I've noticed....

Actually it also depends on how well the MOVIE is doing...

If they promote the movie with that song, etc...

But still, I don't know if that movie will make it across the Atlantic ocean...!

Lets not forget that the last time new order worked with the chems (kind of) was out of control... which didn't do so well in the charts....

Not wishing to be pedantic, but it was 60 Miles An Hour that Mark and Lard had as their record of the week. Obviously didn't give it too much of a boost...! But they're bound to play it a couple of times.

They did have Crystal as single of the week.

BTW I went to watch Jon Carter play at The End (along with Darren 'God' Emerson) last Saturday, and as usual he had Coxy in tow. She was a right miserable bitch -talk about nightmare girlfriend. She did tread on my toe for which she apologised though...so thats some sort of claim to fame

Anybody know how long Here To Stay is supposed to be? This piece of shite is 4:26, be warned! The crappy thing is I recognize the band from the fake Here To Stay. When I was trying to find Get Ready, one of their songs was put up instead. The band is shite!!!

Nae bother - didn't know that about 60mph - we're not allowed Radio 1 anymore - cos of all the old gits complaining it's too fuckin loud - now we're tuned into Local Radio till 5pm (P.Collins, Sting, Westlife, SHITE) Anyway cheers for the info, Crystal was also their single of the week - they played it every day - the week before it came out;)

Single of the week is different to A list is it not?

I thought that if a record is on the A list this guarentees it so many plays per week so the fuckers will have to play it.

Okay, apologies if I got it wrong... They definitely had 60 Miles An Hour as Single of the Week, but I remember when Radcliffe was running through their singles of the week for the whole year (for their top five of the year for which the listeners vote, or whatever) there was no mention of Crystal. I remember thinking it odd that they'd chosen 60 Miles An Hour as a single of the week, but not (the obviously superior) Crystal. But you're probably right anyway....most of my Mark and Lard listening is done from September to June, being a :spit: student :spit: :)

I think Crystal was B-listed at Radio One... If it had been A-listed, I'd probably be sick of hearing it by now.

Yeah - that only managed number 21 - barely scraping the Top 20 didn't it?, but the reason was probably the usual one when bands release many singles off an album - Out of Control was the THIRD single after Hey Boy Hey Girl and Let Forever Be - each one did less well than the one before it. So let this be a lesson to those who think there should be more singles off Get Ready!! :nod:

I'm still hoping that, as a one-off, and with decent support, it should go top ten. But Top Five would be like winning the pools I suppose. :nod:

HTS is being used to promote the 24hr Party People Film which I reckon will give it a fair bit more publicity than otherwise.

With nostalgia (there's a great future in it you know ;))getting so much TV/press coverage in the UK these days....'I love 1980s'...'Rock & Roll Years'...'TOPT2' etc etc, the film should attract a decent level of exposure.

This 'A' listing issue with Radio 1 - reckon you're spot on with that Mickey. That dictates how many plays per week the single gets. DJs have v little say over what gets played. Heard an interview with Mark & Lard when they were presenting the breakfast show & they said they were allowed to self select 1 record per show!! Sometimes this was LWTUA.

Only specialist shows like Peel, Pete Tong & so on get away with avoiding the A list straight jacket.

There's a book all about the machinations & politics of Radio 1 called 'The Nations Favourite' by Simon Inglis if yer interested in all this type of stuff.

gee, i hope so...we have a pretty good theatre near me in Albany that if they don't so it, no one withing 300 miles will...so my fingers are crossed.
