What's the definitive Run2 ?
Is it 'Run' or is that dodgy limited-edition 'Run' with a beat behind it that sounds like it's been stuck on by a 12 year old?
Technique 'Run' first, then WFTSC, then the Run breakbeat aberration.

Going on the album versions is probably best :) I just put "Run 2" 'cos it was the name of the single. But strictly speaking the definitive Run 2 is the 7" version from the 12" single, it's an edit with slightly harsher sounding snare hits. The dodgy one you mention is the Extended mix which is more of a remix (a bad one IMO) with that totally out of place breakbeat.
The place to get a copy of the definitive Run 2 is by ripping the digital soundtrack of the video from A Collection DVD. We only had it on vinyl until that DVD came out.
Having said all that the Technique version is probably the best!
I say again I see no difference in the the 2 edits of WFTSC and I think the remix is crap.
The original Run was a good song but IMHO much overrated and not worthy of doing a Run 2 which was very weak.
Feel me????

I agree that there seems no difference between Rich Costey mix and album version.
Everything on Technique, except VP, is "much overrated."
run by far. the synth melody/rock aesthetic that new order displayed on brotherhood and lowlife is exemplified in this track. the break gives the song another dimension and comes full circle at the end. divine stuff. the synths still give me chills 16 years later.

Ah Pats, you're just being needlessly controversial here.

As usual.

re; 'work your way to the top of the world; then you break your life in two'- I like this lyric... means getting success and then going self-destructive to me... probably a reference to the drug addling going on at the time...
WFTSC is overrated; Who's Joe? & Guilt would be better single choices IMHO.
WORK YOUR WAY TO THE TOP..........story of my feeble LIFE!Fcuk me i am still waiting for the SCHOOL BELL to ring, let alone bleedin SIRENS' call.Only sirens i've ever heard are closely followed by the OLD BILL in hot pursuit. And as i keep tellin em now.....THEM DAYS ARE OVER,GUV!I just live what some of you may call a LOWLIFE.

Perhaps you might define "needlessly" in this context, DC.

However I love WFTSC... but it doesn't have the John Denver riffs
Same with me. In addition to the track, the Run video is my fave!
wow...Im surprized R2 is winning....even though I've always loved the the extended version....I have the orig vinyl.
it doesnt have the inexplicable edge that makes a GREAT NO song.
BUT...I think WFTSC is seriously CLASSIC New Order and so it gets my vote...even WITHOUT a big ending.
just me
Run is always such an emotional and sad track for me, rather derivative but beautiful nonetheless, the peak of Technique for me
WFTSC isn't as distinctive to me
really baffles me about the Run2 video.... really lazy concept and execution... Barney does look really fucked up which i guess is funny, but what are these people pointing at from the bridge or whatever.... the girl dancing like an autistic orphan in the street? the lonely old guy looking back on how much his life sucked? i don't get it
