Be it Album or Single whats your favourite Sleeve design?

After finally getting the Singles poster from HM F'ing V, i've had a quick scan over it and was wondering which sleeve design people liked best?

I Like True faith the best, simple yet elegant.

PCL

BLT although Unknown Pleasures, Murder, and the 1981-1982 EP were all a close second.

PC&L for album, Fine Time for single, Movement wins special mention for typography.

PC&L for album, regret for single.

I thought the cover to Spooky was pretty cool.

My fave single is missing from the poster, murder, it just looks cooler TLU with the number border in black.

Fave album has to be best of, the question mark or whatever it is, I've said this before on here but, at a time when I didn't know of any NO release, I was walking past HMV blackpool and saw the poster for the album, without even seeing the text I could just tell it was NO, it just shouts it, fantastic peice of work.

I thought the get ready stuff was a bit lame, the girl doing a bit of a teasing strip, but had the cover for 24HPP been the money shot I would have been made up

E's ARE GOOD E'S ARE GOOD!! Got to be the very trippy yellow Fine Time sleeve.

As a whole, I like the WFTSC LP. Yep the orange letters on white. Of course, at first I hated it. But after I bought the double LP, I got it.

It comes off as simple and lazy. Just like No. But then you open the gatefold sleeve and you get this explosion of color. And you take out each of the sleeves and the sights continue. Its just like the band; they look like one thing.... and then you listen to them and you get this rich colorful sound.

The fact that people are so quick to blow it off makes the art even better. The fact it made so many people pissed is evidence of its genius.

Fave sleeve is no easier than fave song is it?

I suppose based on the ones that always seem to end up put up on my wall, it'd be PCL and TBTHOG.

I wonder if the rumours are tru that 100,000 sleeves for WIFM were printed up with the track title listed as "E for England"

Republic; Good representation of the collapse of Factory, The Hac and nearly NO.

Although I like Retro best- The image of a Hawk attacking a Disco Ball is brilliant- implies that they don't want to be categorised as either a rock or a dance band, but maybe they want to be seen as Kings of a hybrid of the two...

Unknown Pleasures hooked me as soon as I saw the cover, even though I knew what I was looking for, I was as much attracted by the sleeve as I was by the prospect of what was contained within it.

For New Order record sleeves, True Faith takes some beating.

I like the austere simplicity of the early designs - Procession 7", EGG 12" and Ceremony/ Movement. real classics which befitted the music.

Also like the Low Life sleeve, and from that era the simplicity of the Perfect Kiss 12". Thieves Like Us and it's darker alter ego Murder have nice themes.

Not NO but electronic, the sleve for getting away with it, both mixes, black back drop and whiskey and white back drop with the drink a very strange blue colour, both great, mind you hookys stuff with tarts all over it was good too, for different reasons.

The other two's first album (the other two & you), with steve looking like a retard and gill looking quite frumpy has to be one of the worst.

best t-shirt has to be round and round which just had two ampersands, one flourescent yellow, the other flourescent green, slightly overlapping, looking quite blurred and instantly confusing anyone not in the know, the number of people asking "and what?" was unbeleivable, (it could have just been one, but I was so out of it it seemed like thousands):beer2:

True Faith - no question about it. My favorite piece of visual art in the world.

I'm still amazingly fond of Get Ready. There's something about it. (remember also, it was around that era I started to really learn about New Order..)

Unknown Pleasures, especially the 12", is also absolutely gorgeous. The thing is, it means so much. I believe it's what, the readout of a supernova or something? If you think about it, it really represents everything JD were, came out of nowhere, and disappeared just as fast, yet were so very important..

excellent point, in fact pc&l is up on my wall, along with a picture of barney in shorts and kate bush in a tutu. a nice combination!

Now Kate Bush in shorts and Barney in a tutu would be worth seeing! OK, just the Kate Bush in shorts bit.

i like a few designs but i think factus8/fep313 cover is very good. also the classic blue monday 12" is one of the most original sleeve designs ever made in music.to answer the question on the dat thing technique was released on a dat.

It Changes. Usually Technique and PCL.

I love Get Ready too and all the singles from that era. Probably because that was when I was getting into them.

I love the poster for Atmosphere too.

I had one of those tees but with pink & purple ampesands. & forget who asked, but yes there were DAT cassettes - I have Technique.

never really got PC&L know it's Savilles favourite sleeve, but I prefer Movement for albums.

True Faith & the Remix (carried over to the inside sleeve of the gatefold Substance are my faves

True Faith is quite stunning. I remember buying the 7" and loving to stare at it. i also really like Murder, Brotherhood, 1981-1982 Ep, Run and Krafty.

It has to be the rice paper on Low-life. Simple, tasteful and nutritious.
