Had a visit this weekend from my mate who got me really into New Order when we were at college together, and she brought me a gift - her copy of the Substance vid that we used to watch repeatedly when we should really have been doing something more constructive (for example, going to lectures)!:D Watched it for the first time in ages whilst recovering from a hangover last night, and a couple of things struck me..... a) Forgot exactly how amazingly effective the video for The Perfect Kiss is b) In Touched by the Hand of God, Stephen could pass for a Motley Crue era Tommy Lee c) Imagine how bad Barney and Hooky would look in those lycra leggings and cod pieces these days, what with that extra 'girth' and all......

I'll leave you all with that thought;)

I recorded the version which was on ITV a few years ago, but I believe from what I've read here that there is a longer version available. Is this correct? If so, where the hell do I get my grubby mitts on a copy?

Yeah, the whole shebang is about 2.5 hours I think. great stuff, apart from the annoying voice-over (Jenny Seagrove?)Shouldn't be too hard to track down a copy. Try HMV online or soewhere like that.

As much as I love those fellas, its not a pretty thought is it? It made me realise how much they have (cough) "grown".... God, just thought of a really evil comparison to Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks (Brit Onliners may remember them from the glory days of British wrestling)....must stop having such cruel thoughts......:(

Hey Kezzie - do you know the name of that old MOTLEY CRUE album sleeve where the four members were posed atop giant Harley Davidson bikes? It was about 1988 or something. I only ask because I actually thought they'd nicked that image from New Order - cuz the whole band there look EXACTLY like NO in their "Touched" Video. Which I thought was absolutely hilarious!!! :) :) As for your last point - have you clicked into our thread titled "Barney's Mammaries" yet? If not, there's a pic you should see!!

Hubert, I think that Motley Crue album was called 'Girls Girls Girls" ... A very deep and meaningful album title me thinks ...

I've had two mishaps with my New Order videos before ... One being my New Order Story video being chewed up in the blasted video machine and I still can't find another copy of it anywhere ... Im praying that its rereleased sometime ... Thank god for DVD !! No more bloody tape chewing ...

I always remember my first reaction to the Touched video: "What the hell?......." then bursting out into laughter.

Seen the Mammaries related thread, but for some reason can't see any of the pics  As for Motley Crue....can't say I'm much of an expert on their 'music', but I do like to hear the tales of their rock n' roll exploits - Top Ten Stadium Rock Bands that was shown on Channel 4 a while ago had some classic tales :) However, I must admit that I once went out with someone who during his misguided youth attempted to give himself a 'Dr Feelgood' tatoo in indian ink. He only got as far as the 'Dr' though....... Blimey, its all coming out now isn't it? :o

The copy of NewOrderStory I got last Christmas had pretty cruddy sound quality throughout - another bugbear I find with the old VHS video format these days. One thing I hate about any taped media is the potntial for what they call "wow and flutter" during playback - always has annoyed me that - so, yep, like yuo I wish I could splash out on a DVD player soon, then no more blasted rewinding from me any more!! :)

The best bit about The New Order Story isn't the music....honestly...it's seeing them all sat round the table pissed and having a laugh:nod: The Music's just an added bonus;)

This is post 1888 And for anyone that doesn't know - This is the year that the famous GLASGOW CELTIC were formed:clap: :jump:  :rolling:
