The Interview

Quite a good one actually and a decent length. He chats about New Order, DJing, Freebass etc. and confirms (again) they have 7 finished songs for the next New Order album which are "on par with any that are on Sirens'" :thumb:

Oh, and feel free to contribute to the Freebass thread in the Music for pleasure forum if you have any further information regarding the project or have heard Hooky playing any Freebass tracks at his recent DJ sets.

Cheers!

Did that really happen? Curtis's daughter joining 'em onstage at the Q Awards?!

Yes, Bernard refused to go, so Natalie went along to pick up the award. I think David Sultan had some photos?

Yeah, apparently Bernard wouldn't go to the awards ceremony because he thinks Q Magazine are "a bunch of two faced cunts who always give us bad reviews" or something to that effect. A completely deserved response to Q as they slated WFTSC with a two star review and then had the cheek to bestow a Legend award on them in the same year.

I was pleased to see Barney slate Q rather than show up and potentially schmooze with Bono or Chris Martin. Every Q mag is "100 Greatest [insert something musical here]" polls these days and their long running obsession with U2, Coldplay and Radiohead is more than tedious. They select a group of trendy bands to canonise and everyone else may as well not exist. Twats.

The market for music has changed a lot. With downloading and stuff, people have got back to wanting to see groups play live.

I can quite happily sit at home, but when I start looking at my tax bills and utility bills and I realize ‘Fuckin’ hell, thanks to the Hacienda, I still need to work!’

Hooky and Elbow's Guy Garvey must've had a "You wore the beige suit combo too?? Bastard!" moment shortly before he presented them with the award

you've got to admire Bernard for sticking to his guns and not going.

I can just imagine Barney's inner struggle between a) getting some honour (i.e., an excuse to endorse Adidas trainers) b) staying home being lazy

Interesting about the movie though, with that set piece idea. Good golly, I hope it turns into a musical with lyrics at the bottom and the little bouncing ball.

The photo was taken a bit before the actual interview?
