I'm wondering who came to Australia to see NewOrder. Were you at the Gaslight signing in Melbourne?

Allen Jarvis and Johnny Giles both attended the instore signings.. They're probably too bloody jetlagged to post at the mo..
Me, Mr Giles and my Mrs, Paula, all attended the signing. Another mate of ours, Gordie, just sat over the road from us and watched the entire thing from a bar (the queue was, after all, a tad long and slow-moving).

Just got back a few hours ago & now sorting out me laundry! been wading thru the post, 3 weeks worth,...invoice, pizza ad, bill, taxi flyer, bill,...etc. Oh the mundanity of (low) life.
Went to the Gaslight signing, near the back of the line though so only allowed 1 item to be signed, after I'd bought 6 copies of the 60 mph EP
. Still, judging by the looks on peoples faces who were leaving the store with precious autographed vinly sleeves clutched to their bosom, I think it made alot of fans very happy. You were one of these AT?
Only yesterday arvo we were siping drinks on the quayside in glorious Perth sunshine at the, ahem, 'Lucky Shag' (I kid you not folks) & now back to rain swept South London. How depressing.
Anyway, as the taxi driver said to me when he kicked me out at Perth Airport...'You'll be back'

My bloody server has been playing up all night and it has taken me ages to get this here.
So I see there were more then just the two from the UK, WOW a long way to come, do you know the band? I wonder when you started following the band around which State did you first arrive in? Cheap holiday I bet with the Aussie dollar the way it is. I hope you all come back again for a holiday. I wonder why you bought so many singles, were you hoping to get them all signed?
I went into Gaslight Records this morning to take advantage of the 20% off and bought a few New Order items so I am now the proud owner of ‘Power, Corruption and Lies’, ‘Substance’ (I have these in vinyl) and (the rest of) New Order.
I was talking to those at Gaslight Records about the NewOrder signing. I was saying that we had the best time as I got two items signed,(we lined up twice), got the 'Perfect Kiss' from Hooky twice; so I can now say that I was 'Touched by the hand and lips of Hooky' we also got photos with him and Stephen, Barney had disappeared apparently had a case of miserable-itis according to Hooky.
Those in the store went on to tell me something very interesting. I would love to know what you guys got up to there, did you behave? I would love to hear your story on the days events. I wanted to know who they were talking about and how many of you there were.
I guess we got lucky at the Sydney signing.. I had 5 items signed, prompting a quip from Barney.

That was generous, what did Barney say?
Were there many at the Sydney signing? I can't say there were many in melbourne. I have see queues longer then that on Wednesday.
There was an interview on Triple R tonight with Barney he mentioned that he hates touring.
Think we got unlucky at both signings. One thing and one thing only to be signed at each event. Mind, for the Gaslight signing we were more interested in cornering NO's manager, Andy R, as we didn't have tickets for the Metro show that night, so we weren't hanging around to say anything to the band.
However, on a bum note, I've just discovered I've lost the majority of me NO memorabilia that I'd amassed Down Under. I'd put everything away 'safely' with my travel insurance and flight details but had said folder out on the Perth-Bangkok leg of the journey home. And it appears I left the lot on the plane. It might turn up, but I doubt it. Shame cos there was FOUR set-lists in there! Still, you can't take away the memories! Only Kronenbourg can do that.. .

Anastasia, the reason I bought 6 copies - yes, to get them all signed & give them away as holiday pressies to various NO fans I know back in the UK. They'll have to make do with an unsigned 60 mph EP, this has some extra tracks on it that the UK version doesn't carry so all is not lost.
Bit confused by your last para. The store guys told you something very interesting?....go on....
There were 4 of us there & we managed to get guest listed in the end although we had to sweat a bit before getting this confirmed. This was also the gig where we got to the aftershow party, but thats another story & in fact is laid out on other threads from about a week ago.
Started the trek up in Brisbane, then Sydney followed by Melbourne, Adelaide & finally Perth.
Great holiday, great country, great people, what more can I say.
Allen - you doughnut!!, now who's the monkey?!

Sorry to hear that, Jarvo - but I do hope that the lost items included the photo Paula took of us gurning away at the Metro....
CTB (Bear, not Dog, apparently)

Candy, the photos are safe and sound. I've just misplaced, 4 set-lists, 3 sets of concert tickets, an aftershow pass, a signing pass, couple of Aussie magazine articles, etc. And Thai airlines said they've not shown up. Shame. Still, they're only pieces of paper (I keep telling myself).
Johnny, there's only one sort of Monkey, as well you know. A Northern one.
Right, it's 3.30am in Engerland so I guess I must be jet-lagged, huh?!

Allen, I only got two things signed as we lined up again. So what happened did you get to speak to management, did you get tickets? I'll be spewing to hear that you did. I didn't have tickets either and I did the grovelling bit with Hooky, it was embarassing.

Oh dear, that is terrible how could you forget them. As you know security was pretty good so the cleaners would have found them, and removed them from the plane thinking they were some sort of explosive so on that I suggest you call the airline. You just never know. I know that from LA to New Zealand I had to exit the plane and take all my possession with me even if I was in the same seat from Auckland to Melbourne. They told us anything left on the plane will be removed so on this I suggest you call them. It's not too late to call.

Sorry you couldn't get them signed it would have been the best present. Are New Order easy to contact or see in the UK?

Err... well not sure if I should say as I don't want your trip to Australia being ruined by what I will say. I would love to know whether you all had a confrontation with management there?

Grrrlllll.... I wish I got onto the guest list oh well. :\ohwell: Obviously you had to be English to get on it. I still enjoyed the live recordings they had on the radio the other day, so it was as if I didn't miss much well you know what I mean. I would have loved to have seen the gig.

WOW were you backpacking or did you go to great hotels? How many days were you here?
Great holiday, great country, great people, what more can I say.
So pleased to hear this, I hope you will all come back one day soon and see more of the sights, can I ask what your highlight was, other then the New Order stuff.

Now I am intrigued. C'mon, time for bean spillage..don't think this will ruin our trip. After all, we did get into the show. We just asked the bands mananger to help us out that's all, very politely I thought.
We stayed in reasonable Hotels apart from Adelaide when we used the YHA. The £ is pretty good against the A$ at the moment so we were able to indulge a little bit.
So many highlights....view from the AMP tower in Sydney, checking out the mixed toilets in Home, getting sunburnt on Bondi, I could go on.
Now....those comments at the Gaslight..;)
A Pom stranded down under...
I went to see the gigs (Wed & Fri) at Brixton in November, emigrated the following week and got to see them at the Horden Pavillion, the signing in Sydney, participated in a little banter with hooky on the BDO chat. Travelled over to Perth for the Big Day out with the expectation of seeing something special for the final Oz gig. Did it happen????
Will be flying back for the Finsbury Park gig, hope it isn't as muddy as the '87 circus tent gig!
Is there anyone who'd like to see World in Motion performed again? I KNOW how you all love it!!!!!!
Aaaaaaaah Reading wot a gig?
xxspookiexx (I'm scary too!)
