Who amongst the onliners here would truly consider themselves the biggest hedonist /raving party monster of them all? Seriously - as in UBER-large?? Maximum everything -the beer, the drugs, the fellatio, the rampant egomania, the shameless excesses, the waistline, the wallet, etc etc??? I ask because this forum seems to be divided into two quite distinct camps of late - the more timid, serious NewOrderphiles who exist purely for the enjoyment of the music, and those who use NewOrder as an unsolicited vehicle for all manner of untold pleasures and wayward distractions (ha!). Being relatively new here, my immediate conclusion is, once any newcomer comes into regular contact with the asylum of inmates here, it's damn impossible to resist their twisted charms....so you too become one of them in the process!!

So step this way y'all, let's see you all in yer TRUE colours. The bigger, the brasher, the uglier, the better!!!

New Order used to be a soundtrack to a way of life (very much intended pun), but now that we've grown up together (again intended), the excesses are fewer, the responsibility greater, the memories sweeter, the beer more fucking expensive. Still love 'em :)

I'm an obsessive excessive:nod: Now I could tell loads of fucked up stories here - mainly drink and drug fuelled binges (various stories of smoking £5 notes thinking it was a cigarette, using me mates bed as an ash-tray, dressing up like the village people with me nan's clothes, breking into local factories fer a piss at 4 in the morning) but I won't:lol: Too many people I know check these feckin pages!

I used to be a bit of a raver.....

Back in the oldskool days of Dreamscape,Helter-Skelter,Elevation etc.. though i gave it up/grew out of it when they started putting chipmonk type vocals on hardcore tracks about '95-96

great times tho... what i errmmm remember of em ;)

I could post story after story about ecstasy fueled evenings at Club A here in Dallas back in the late 80's and the very beginnings of the 90's...but I'm not really sure that any of them ever happened...that stuff was probably the worst thing I've ever decided to put in my body...but damn, it was great at the time...

And it sure as hell made Blue Monday even better at the time!!! :p

So what's the most excessive thing I ever did then? Spose it has to be when I used to follow a few local hardcore bands all round the NorthEast and driving meself and me mates everywhere flyposting their gigs all over Darlington, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Durham, Gateshead, Sunderland and every other dive in between, whilst living off cheap beer, tabs, crisps, E's, speed, crap food from roadside vendors....for my efforts I got in to the gigs for free, crashed a few after-gig binges, slept on a few ash-strewn carpets, cut my head open a few times from stage diving....and all that usuall bollocks. Luckily salvation came knocking on the door when I met Charlie in the summer of 94... and she's been keeping me in check ever since...aahhhhhhh....

Have to agree with you Grigory about the E's - at the time we were all neckin' 'em regardless, just cos it was seen as the time and the place...but at the end of the day, it fucks yer system up - my problem was it used to give me terrible digestive problems, and having that recurring on a daily basis wasn't enjoyable in any way to say the least. If I was that age again now, I'd think twice about indulging like that....

Apart from overindulging in too many packets of ready salted peanuts in one sitting [think of the copius methane production values that can bring... ] I simply don't have the time nor the opportunity to go apeshit, especially when you're usually surrounded by lots of toffe-nosed middle-aged people or young children and their schoolteachers. I like to think one day I harbour this fantasy of swinging Tarzan-like from the lighting rigs just minutes before the curtain opens at the next fucking Easter play , and drop lots of raw eggs on top of the entire audience as a thank-you gesture for my inexhaustable patience....ha! :jump:

Haven't had access to a computer since I've been skiving off work....anyhoo, no I've never been to Middlesbrough, only passed through on many a National Express coach journey. And you're quite right, that hideous car park is due to be pulled down. I'm actually in Gateshead at the minute, visiting the parents and I passed the monstrosity when I was on the into 'the toon'. It actually looks even worse because half of it has been painted yellow and green......:(

So then, let me ask you - ever frequent The Riverside in you days of debauchery......?:)

That's great news about the car park Kezzie - !! Considering Newcastle/Gateshead are now bidding to be European City Of Culture as well, so that should help no end, giving the place a damn good clean up me thinks. Wallsend is a fookin violent place now - I'd never take me kids there . And yep - the Riverside - most of my best late 80's early 90's pop memories are stored there and debauchery is the best word to describe my time there too - all them fooking wild club nites! (and Newcastle Mayfair too - before the place was sadly closed down) plus it was at a local bands nite gig there that I met my girl Charlie....oh aye...(she comes from North Shields!)

:cool2:

Riverside was the first club I ever went to! Went to see Alice Donut there at the tender age of 15. It was a downward spiral from then on really.... :) Many a Saturday night spent in the Mayfair too - much amusement had to be laughing at the 45 year old glam rockers;)

You know something Kezzie? I nearly got fooking blinded once at the Mayfair, well, to be exact it was outside the venue - I was just going past with a few of my drinking buddies and there were LOADS of these hideous soft-metal rockers all milling around waiting to get in (think Saturday nite is AOR/Poodle-rock Metal night or somethin....), Anyway, two of these sad fookers started dicking about and just as I passed them, one of them lurched in front of me and the back of his mullet smashed right against my face - I'm telling you, I could have sued the fooker for inflicting potential whiplash injuries with his fooking beaver paddle - bastard. I've never had a good word to say about their type since.... :(

By the way, you may have noticed my posts log has changed - I've had to start a new account again from scratch as the older one (using an email address that I no longer have) has inexplicably died on me, but that's no problem - I'm not arsed about any of this fancy transferring of posts over - that's just for obsessive number-crunching saddoes, so I'm happy to carry on as it is, but at least I've got my profile up on the board this time... :)
