Bought one from the same guy a while ago. I must say in all honesty that it is quite amazing! The sound quality is excellent. 
I would recommend that you buy it if only for The Happy One in all it's complete glory.

the artwork also looks pretty good in the photo... is it this good in real life?
Is the version of 'The Happy One' on EFR a full version or is it stitched together from the intermediate bits on the Substance video/Palatine Lane promo?

i wasn't involved w/ this CD, but i have it. i can vouch for the quality...its phenomenal. you'll be happy to have it in your collection.

Although it is impossible to create The Happy One with the Substance or Palatine Promo snippets, trust me, I tried.

The source of this complete version of The Happy One is a total mystery. I am surprised Spotnick doesn't even know. It's probably one of those "don't ask" type of situations. Anyway it's superb.
I managed to download it a couple of years ago now when Audiogalaxy was still running. The description of the file was "The Happy One - high quality, fixed".
Thought it was going to be another cut and paste job of the Substance video clips, but it seems to be the full version. I contacted the user who I downloaded it off to try and get some more info, but they never responded. A few days later Audiogalaxy died. I don't think the two events were related.
An occasional poster on here claimed to have a Robbs Records promo CD with it on, but I didnt believe them.

Excerpts from 'Recycle' is without a doubt one of the classiest bootlegs I've seen and the artwork has got to be along the lines of what Saville himself would've come up if Recycle has become a reality.
Excerpts.. was particularly good because it gave us classic 7" versions on CD and even though you could tell they were from vinyl they're some of the best transfers I've heard. With Singles we now have most of those 7" version in full quality now but Excerpts.. still contains an amazing quality version of the Japanese Blue Monday 7" and the vinyl tracks from Run 2.
Funnily enough my only gripe about this bootleg is The Happy One track. While it's nice to have the full song in a flowing manner, the quality is pretty ropey. It sounds like it's been encoded twice i.e. someone took an MP3, decoded to WAV, then re-encoded back to MP3. Doing so shafts the quality and you can tell through headphones the treble sounds a bit watery.
Otherwise it's well worth the $15...

I'm 100% sure that this "full version" of "The Happy One" was made from the snippets on the "Substance" video. There's nothing new, all the elements are there. It's just a case of someone with better skills of mixing than

Wherever the version of "The Happy One" came from, it is very well done (if it was mixed together) - very nice!
Reminded me of the time when I saw the Other Side Of Midnight broadcast with Hooky playing live bass to automated instruments. Loved the explanation of Tony Wilson as to why the other's couldn't make it - apparently, Barney was out jogging and Steve and Gillian had gone to bed early!

I don't believe it's pieced together from the Substance videos. No freaking way. 
There are no signs of it that I can find. No clips or clicks or syncronization issues. Plus I doubt that the snippets from Substance add up to 2:50 (the time on Excerpts) and I also doubt that each snippet starts exactly where the last one left off. Plus if you try and argue that they used the snippets from Palatine Lane, they only add up to 2:30. They're missing 20 seconds worth of music found only on the Excerpts version.

It is not simply a question of cutting and pasting the snippets one after another. If you do this you'll have a shitty version just like did. Using a mixing software you can repeat bits as many times as you like and play them simultaneously. You could create a 10-minute version of "The Happy One", if you could be bothered.

The full version has been on the internet for a while. It contains segments that are not found in the snippets from the Substance video or the French promo CD. No amount of editing or mixing software will create Peter Hook bass parts that weren't originally available in those snippets.

Well, Ricardo, I did try to do it, hence the bad version, but I can garantee that there are parts of the songs unavailable elsewhere in this version.
Maybe a better mixer would have done a better job, but that is, indeed, a pretty good mix of it, if it was done by cutting and pasting only..
I know for sure they don't "fit" together and would require a lot of work to make the song, so if it was done that way... chapeau!

Even after listening to "Palatine Lane" tracks and the "full" version more than a dozen times, I still can't hear anything new. All parts are in the six snippets, even the bass lines. I still think it's just a job extremely well done.
By the way Nicolas, sorry if I was harsh about your version. I know you did the best you could but it simply wasn't good enough. No, no, no... I'm only joking. ;)

Let us know where you find the segment from ~1:27-1:56 then. It starts out with only the chimey keyboard part and bass and I don't know of any software that will allow you to strip out individual instruments so cleanly.
There are other oddities as well. If you take the six tracks from Palatine Lane and put them in the correct order, they would go:
segment 2 segment 3 segment 4 segment 5 segment 1 segment 6
The missing section would go between segment 1 and segment 6. The first segment (or the fifth in the corrected order) has a slightly different bassline at the end when you compare the Palatine Lane version to the full version.
In addition, one would think that segment 6 is the final ~58 second portion of the full version. However, if you back up 58 seconds from the end of the full version, the two tracks don't line up at all. This would suggest there are at least two official edits of the track.
sounds more complicated than trying to make a vanishing point instrumental from the title and incidental music from the 'making out' tv series !!!

i just bought one from ebay and asked the seller if he knew anything about the source of the disc. his reply was: "The CD was put together by a few fans. All the non-CD tracks were professionally restored from the best possible sources. Unfortunately,this process cost several hundred dollars to do correctly. The goal is to sell enough CDs to break even and we're about halfway there! We really appreciate your purchase and please let me know if you are unhappy with the CD in any way." If anyone is interested nin buying one, the seller is charging $15 plus $3 US shipping (I don't know what he charges for overseas shipping) and his email is easyfloat@icepulse.com

...mmmm, I doubt this very much. You can do a great job of 'restoring' audio with any computer running a few cracked programs and plugins for nothing really.

i can't say for sure, but i believe that the eBay seller is honest in his comments about the non-CD tracks and the costs that were incurred.

First, lets talk about the myriad of source materials you would need (four or five unplayed copies of the Ceremony 12" as an example, or a source for the unreleased remixes?), then you should think about the A/D conversion you will be using. SoundBlaster Live? I think not. Then would should mention the time and experieince you will be utilizing. Oh, and cracked plugins and programs won't get you the same results. I suggest you give it a try before you decide you can do it at home. A challenge if you will.

Are you sure it's the 12" version of ceremony? I believe it's actually the 7" version on EFR. I played them both for comparison and it's the 7" version. Correct me if I am wrong. I also agree with your comment on how much time and effort went into this to gather resources and do it right. SoundBlaster wouldn't do it.

Yeah, pretty sure it's the original 12" version of Ceremony with the correct stereo image.

A quality item. Sound is excellent. If only Warners would produce the genuine Recycle for us...!
