someone told me that the exact centre of a city is where the first post office was built... I live right next to the old post office in aberdeen, so I suppose I am in the centre exactly.

and See? and I thought that (minute of silence and arm bands) was over sentimentalized PAP! Wholly appropriate for two teams with the history that these two teams have with Utd. Good on them for standing up to forced shared tragedy and sentimentalism.
I did appreciate Gerrard not wearing the black besty arm band, unlike our Distin who fell in for it :(

No it wouldn't, because her family and friends may have heard it, and no matter what my beef with her was, or even with them, it's far too cheap a shot. Again tho, you;re right about this kind of state sanctioned soppyness (like victims now being worship as heros, reducing actual heros to the level of victims, call me old fashioned but I kinda think someone who drags a person from a burning building at great risk to themselves deserves the title a little more than someone who's sole achievement in life was ending it as organic shrapnel. Actually she never annoyed me a great deal, until she went from public enemy No1 to people's hero overnight just by dying. Course she did some good, might have done more with her OWN money instead of smiling to help people raise some.
What really blew my mind was all the worship stuff after she croked....I was screaming "but you fucking hate her you hyporcits". Ah well at least I still have some stuff on video made before she died, so the Govt. can't re-write history :)

I never hated Diana. Her death was a tragedy made worse that she effectively died because of her celebrity and the fact that her in-laws appeared reluctant to return to London to acknowledge the grief of the public. If you'd turned up at Buck House or KP in the days after her death and shouted obscene remarks in poor taste I'm pretty certain you'd have been lynched.
The royals had already started descending the slippery slope towards soap opera before she came along. I've no respect for any of them now; she was the last one I had any for.

Diana: Promise me that you'll give up seeing her (Camilla) and never see her again.
Charles: Obviously my relationship with Camilla will change once you and I are married but...

The idea that we - the lowly people, the peasants - are supposed to look up to and admire the royals is well down the road.
As for worshiping her and Besty after their deaths, admiration is one thing but worship is something else. They both did good in a world with a lot of bad in it. Best pissed his talent away and that was a criminal waste but he will be remembered as one of the greatest players of all-time (so said Pele of all people) as well as being a piss-artist. By their deeds they shall be remembered...
