I never tought I'd see the day where I'd see Kristen Dunst naked with New Order playing in the background ![]()
Funny, the song IS featured in the trailer.. meaning, there's no other sound at all.. it's not background music.
yes, it is quite bizarre and a little out of place I must say. I like hearing AOC in any context, though.
Is this for real or has someone just stuck AOC over whatever was on their originaly, seems very inapropriate and, as mentioned above, unusual in having no sounds other than the music. Got to be fake.
I LOVE it. It's out of context and way more original than some obvious classical music. Sofia Coppola is a great movie director anyway. And she's got SO GOOD musical tastes.

You obviously haven't been over to my house.
I doubt AOC will appear in the finished product, but maybe Coppola will try to finagle some more po-mo into the movie. Who knows.
Wasn't there a Joy Division song in Lose In Translation? ![]()
Bad memory.
Obviously, that's a weird trailer, but it's indeed official, and it's a nice edit of Age of Consent.

No, not in Lost in Translation. But there was that little Joy Division song called Ceremony that ended up in the Life (crap) Aquatic trailer...and then appeared nowhere in the movie. If indications are correct, we'll have about 7 different threads about AOC being in this new trailer, just like what happened last time.
Nice, but no doubt bizarre. Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette? She was barely tolerable as Marion Davies in that Bogdanovich film about Hearst, so I have even less hope for this one.
If you're keeping score though Churchy, there's only been two threads so far about this topic, but it's early days yet.
you may be thinking of donnie darko... great movie- but would they really be playing 'love will tear us apart' at an 80's halloween party??? hardly...

Starring: Kirsten Dunst, Jason Schwartzman, Asia Argento, Rip Torn, Molly Shannon Director: Sofia Coppola Opens: Oct. 13, 2006
What the Movie Is About: Dunst stars as the young Austrian who got married off to a Frenchman, lost her head over fancy clothes, and then really lost her head to the blade of the guillotine. Schwartzman co-stars as Louis XVI, her politically (and sexually) ineffectual husband.
What the Buzz Is About: Sofia Coppola's eagerly awaited follow-up to 'Lost in Translation' is clearly no BBC yawner. Who else would set the trailer for an 18th-century biopic to New Order's 'Age of Consent'?
;)
Let's not forget that the most beautiful woman in the world, Her Holiness Asia Argento, is in it. Sounds like good watching.
I was told by one of my source (who gave me the info about the trailer 24h after the author of this thread, so
up for being so fast on the news) Sofia Copolla "Sofia is a fan of the band (and has listed “Power, Corruption & Lies” in a list of top 10 must have releases)."
Johnathan Ross played this trailer to close out his Film 2006 programme on BBC1, about a month ago. He mentioned watching Kirsten Dunst to NO.
Doesnt AOC sound fantastic with baudy bodice-ripping pictures though?

Churchy, you are such a goth!!
"Ceremony" does, apparently, feature in a key scene in the flick; AOC does not.
Still, lovin' that trailer!

Hey! Just because I listen to the Cure, wear black clothes and eyeliner, decorate everything with red candles, and cut myself when I feel sad (which is all the time) does not make me a Goth. ![]()
Oh, and I saw a TV spot for the movie featuring "Plainsong."
Gnu Odor wrote: Just flipped past the American TV spot for said film and heard not AOC but Ceremony.
Saw the above last evening as well. Is AOC being featured in the UK trailers and Ceremony in the US version? I noticed the sound quality was quite good for those few seconds-a different master from the Substance one?
i was shocked to open the NY Post today and see a pic of New Order with a Sofia Coppola blurb saying that they were her main musical influence when making this movie, and listened to a ton of NO as inspiration.
For UK residents: if you buy a copy of this month's 'Total Film' magazine, you get a free DVD including said trailer.
the trailer was put up on this site a few months ago--complete with AOC. i'll be seeing this one.

The latest trailer includes CEREMONY, but it's a slower version than Substance. Any ideas on the source of this track?
It's all legit, supposedly. There are a lot of anachronisms in the film (same type of thing as Morrissey mentioning Joan Of Arc's Walkman in Bigmouth Strikes Again). Dunst wears Converse sneakers under her dress.
Looks like they made Entertainment Weekly too. With a pic of New Order (Gilbert-era) -
"To me," Coppola says, "New Order has a certain feeling - a young, melancholic, romantic feeling - that is specific to their music. I listened to it a lot on Marie."

Weird, the American TV ads all have "Plainsong".

Er... why do I keep mixing those 2 songs for the last 10 years is out of my mind.
Sorry, it's indeed Plainsong.

All Cats Are Grey by The Cure is used for the end of the film too. ![]()

Don't forget that Steve Coogan (Tony WILSON in 24HP) is featured in Marie-Antoinette too
It's strange and nice to see him again related with New Order.
Ceremony is played in full in the film without any dialogues.
This part of the film should be the official video for Ceremony. ![]()
You shouldn't see Marie Antoinette as an historic film, because it isn't. Just enjoy the pictures and the music as a big video. I really love the atmosphere on this film.
Thank you Sofia

Here is another link for trailers
I sampled the version of CEREMONY on "Singles" last night and it's the same version on Substance 1987. Does anyone else know the source of the slower version that's in the latest MARIE ANTOINETTE trailer? Thx.

*Sigh*
Try the original 1980 version. It's on Singles.

If it was on iTunes, they're missing some of the correct versions. Same with JD's Permanent-the LWTUA is the Substance version, not alternate version found on the single (akin in performance to the Peel session version).
OK that explains it. I sampled the version on Amazon and it's the version I'm looking for, thanks.
