Originally posted by D13 I would have to say The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, The Psychedlic Furs, TFF, PSB, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, U2, Duran Duran, Echo & the Bunnymen, Oingo Boingo, Bjork, Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Idol, AC/DC, PM5K, White Zombie, Orgy, Chemical Brothers, Paul Oaky, Underworld, The Orb, Opus 3, Shamen, Xymox, Sunscreem, Lycia, Love Spirals Downward. I am sure there are others but those would have to be my faves.

Speaking of Sunscream.. what have they been doing? I saw them in support of New Order back in 1993, Sebastien made me listen to "Love You More".. and then it completely vanished.

Oh well...

What a relief!!! Most people think of Duran from Rio etc, which is wrong, they have had lots of offer in the last decade........and there is lots more to come.........

Liv

I love Duran Duran too, although I don't have their phone numbers :p! I also did hear they were all back together and are supposed to do a new album! I would love to see them live!

I have the wedding album too and absolutely love it!

Originally posted by Nicolas LeBlanc I do have the wedding album, have White Lines in mp3 somewhere and the song from The Saint, but I seriously don't have any idea of what they've been doing lately!

Wedding Album was 93, since then they did "Thank You" (95)which included White Lines (cracking version i think!) and lots of other covers, including Lou Reed and Bob Dylan... After that came "Medazzaland" which wasnt released in the UK, but included the Saint song "Out Of My Mind" Brilliant track, one of my all time faves... Comercially the album was a huge flop, but it was really original and interesting (worth a listen !) and lastly, last year they released "Pop Trash" which was stonking album. Duran are very different to the 80's image they had... Im not keen on the mid 80's stuff they did (ie Is there Something i should know, Rio, etc etc) but their first album had huge Punk overtones, and has a great sound, and their later stuff is quite experimental and rocky.

At the moment, they have reunited as a 5 piece (original line up) and the guitarist of 16 years (Warren Cucurrullo formally of Missing Persons) has left. They are working on new material for an album and tour... :)

I can honestly say this is one of the first times in ages ive not been criticised for my taste in music. People tend to remember what they want to and have a go coz of that. Attitude usually are along these lines... New Order = Miserable! Joy Division = Suicide Music! Duran Duran = 80's fluff with no real substance! how wrong people can be.

I remember hearing "Come Undone" on the radio when that album came out, I believe I was 13 at the time. I went out and bought the tape, before I had a CD player.

I would listen to that tape over and over until it eventually died :( I was really into side A mostly with obviously "Come Undone", "Ordinary World", "Love Voodoo" and all of the others. I couldn't get enough. I love the "Greatest" album, all of the classics. Thank You was wonderful. I love their remake of "Lay Lady Lay", the original makes me laugh so much, I believe they did justice to that song. I thought it was funny though that they did "White Lines" I didn't think I would ever hear them doing that, although their version is better than the original in my opinion.

I didn't purchase Medazzaland but I did like the song "Electric Barbarella" that was a good tune. I can't wait for their new stuff!!!

Everyone here seems to have pretty similar tastes, Smiths, New Order, Mondays, Roses etc etc which we all know about. But Im interested if theres anyone listening to Autechre or people like that.

You talking about Warp the Sheffield label? LFO, Nightmares on Wax that type of stuff?

Sorry, yes. That Warp.Anyone know any of that stuff? Some of it can sound like a bag of spanners falling down some stairs, but its usually pretty interesting and I feel some of their ethic is pretty similar to factory. Check out www.warprecords.com if youre interested

No particular “order”

  1. New Order
  2. 311
  3. Blur
  4. Crystal Method
  5. Massive Attack
  6. Faithless
  7. Monaco
  8. The Replacements
  9. Simple Minds
  10. POE

I’m sure I’ve left someone out. On the periphery I’d have to go with Leftfield, Tricky, Moby, Depeche Mode, Juliana Hatefield et al.

April...and Liv, as well...

I would be more than willing to live in a world that the two of you ruled... just one question though...what would the "national" anthem be????

Oh now, another endless topic :)

I'm starting to think we should put a "reward" system for users with more replies to their topic.. or at least put a top 10 of this ;)

I know that song, sounds perfect to me! But we have to modify it to say something to the extent of "the world with all of the sexy men!" :p
