In no particular order -

ACR, Cabs, Cocteaus, Section XXV, Gang of Four, Joke, Durutti Column, Fall (when in the right mood), Kraftwerk, Josef K, Orange Juice, Clock DVA, Bunnymen, Pop Group/Mark Stewart + Mafia, Stone Roses, Masters at Work...the list goes on.

Not too many recent names - now I wonder why that is? (and don't say it's because you're an old duffer!)

Sonic Mike, your right, The Smiths have to be the 2nd best band in the world, you have class written all over you.

Well, for what it's worth (aside from NO etc.):

The Smiths / Paul Weller / Durutti Column (Vinni Reilly - a really fucked up individual) / Kate Bush (and proud of it) / Kraftwerk / The Penguin Cafe Orchestra / Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Think the only band I've seen more than the Order is ACR. Also seen the Mondays and the Fall loads of times. Not sure either have aged well (walked out of my last Fall gig early cos MES had just sacked half the band and the new lot were AWFUL!). Also seen Orbital a good 10+ times. Got into the Cocteaus too late - first saw them in about 93 at Brixton and walked in halfway through the gig to be BLOWN AWAY by how impressive they were. Like walking into a rave. At home I listen to f'all except film soundtracks and dance music though - lots of Oaky.

The Fall are playing London Nov 10th. Perfect weekend - them and then the Order in Paris, but the Mrs has now said she wants to make a LONG w/e of it in Paris so might have to miss out on Mark E Smith and Co. Shame.

Anyone been checking out stuff on Warp at all? Everyone here seems to have pretty similar tastes, Smiths, New Order, Mondays, Roses etc etc which we all know about. But Im interested if theres anyone listening to Autechre or people like that.

Cocteaus were wonderful live. I saw them in Brum in 84 and they did two or three encores and I'm sure Liz was so taken aback by the affection of the crowd that she was in tears. I listened to Treasure the other day and it still sends tingles down the spine.

Fall are an aquired taste - sometimes they sound terrific and other times they are just annoying.

Still counting the hours for www.acrmcr.com

I guess most know that this question is one in the fanclub profile?

Yeah well, unfortunatly I don't have the musical depth of many people here.. luckily the internet is now opening us to new music and stuff we wouldn't be able to listen to otherwise.

Favorite bands beside New Order? It used to be The Cure, Depeche Mode, U2, Oasis, Collective Soul, The Cranberries, The Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Radiohead, Our Lady Peace...

I was once told it wasn't ok to like Oasis when you're a New Order fan :D

Ah well, sorry.. it does it for me!

I saw The Fall in Bristol just after he been arrested in N.Y. for hitting his girlfriend. All the band had left him except for the girlfiend ,the silly moo. The gig was awful.

I do like Duran too... I was a big fan of them in the 80's, I have the wedding album.. and last time I heard, they were ALL back together...

I do have the wedding album, have White Lines in mp3 somewhere and the song from The Saint, but I seriously don't have any idea of what they've been doing lately!
