I've seen the Chems twice recently and quite a few Order/JD samples crop up, as well as the vocals on Out Of Control. There's a nice interview with Barney on the Chemical Brother's Singles DVD.

Not to mention their astonishing Temptation pastiche into star guitar ( a masterful track that COMPLETELY restored my shaken faith in them). The way they meld them, and let the cat out of the bag that the 2 share a part or two, is lovely.
i may actually be hung, drawn, quartered and sundried in the streets for saying this....but their electronics for temptation sound more like NO than NO, not in terms of sound, but in terms of the raw energy Temptation and EGG and their ilk used to possess in the "days of steam"
BTW, I heard a tune one day on some program about trains, that was exactly like star guitar, but with almost no electronics, was that just a rip off?...a remix?...perhaps the track they stole to make SG? Anyone? Bewler? Bewler? Anyone? Anyone?

My God, how cool's that? Wish that had happened in Belfast when I saw them there this time last week! (For the record, it was one hell of a good night!)
Wasn't expecting this to happen someday...
After all, they didn't do it in San Francisco when they were both at the same gig...

ahem...don't you mean Oakland, or is your geography as shite as Bernard's?
Killer. Would love to have seen it.
Dare I say it, but close to my favourite track by/related to NO of the past 10 years.

Al, his new Oz bird, Mickey Way and me went to Hard-Fi on Friday night. We were in a boozer before hand watching the World Cup draw with Mike who quite a few on here know. He was going to the Chems...little did we think that Barney would show. Surprised we didn't get a text off him.
Barney must have rehearsed his part before hand, he'd never do it off the cuff. Guess the time before the Oakland gig was spent practising for their own set rather than thinking about guest slots.
Right with you there DC. OOC is sheer genius. One of the best tracks EVER IMHO.
Ps Got a ticket for England - Sweden ![]()

u right but, barney and hooky was on the left side of the stage listening to CB while they were performing "star". it was kinna intersting, coz they had both of their arms crossed while listening to it with a serious look.
Barney summed up my own reaction to the Chem's opening set in Oakland when he smiled, winced, and plugged his ears with his fingers when one of the Bros. glanced over at him.

Er, Mike claims not to have seen Bernard there!
I for one find it hard to believe. Any proof at all?
Must confess I'd been wondering how anyone could sing over the live arrangement of that track.

Damn, missed the encore and Bernard, from the sound of things. Was stuck in the bar for the last 15 mins with girl. Told Al I'd seen Out of Control and no Bernard, looks like they did it twice ;-(

Ah, right. Mike left before the encores and said they'd already played OOC.
Looks like they played it twice. How twee! ![]()

Just beat me to it!
Did you read the review the girl who took that picture wrote?
"And then................Lights go off. People start coming on and offstage , putting boxes , a plasma screen , a mic and stuff on stage. We were guessing " OMG! Who is it gonna be ?!"
Hmmm, plasma screen. Should have been obvious!!
Some of the dudes on that Chem Bros board trade recordings of their shows, I've nabbed a couple before.

CHEM BROS rule!!
Saw them early this year in Sydney - never sweat so much in my life b4!!! Got carried away a bit with the sound that I missed the Temptation bit in Star Guitar. Vaguely remembered there are many bits on their set sounded very 'NO-ish'![]()
The only thing I find irrating is they kept 'hi-five'ing each other throughout the night..def. over-the-top-self-adulation....
I flew over to Sydney for that gig, dude.
If I'd known you were in the crowd I would've brought along a few Snickers, lightly powdered, just the way you like 'em!

Would be great if Chem Bros (Manc Uni roots n all) returned the favour at MEN gig in Jan and pushed Phil to one side for Here to Stay...surely it must have at least one live outing. ![]()
