its some ridiculous time over here when man was not meant to leave his bed to watch United and Aston 'kin Villa
Eh Steve, upgraded from my fender p-bass to an ibanez srx700. Much lighter, smaller, more frets... good stuff.
Steve Campbell wrote: Sweet....and did the time on the P-bass make you appreciate it :D
certainly did. Its great being able to play bass in my room and not worry about knocking things over! The finish on the ibanez is bootiful and its a neck thru. Definately worth the money.
Just need to find some money for a bleeding new amp now
if you're not careful Steve every thread you post in will end up in bass discussion or you trying to pick up one of the lady forumites ;)
if only I could combine the two eh?
Actually I'm really not trying to pick them up they're all nutters. I do love it tho :D
Ladies, am I a gent (to the best of your knowledge of course)
did you see that fucked up looking aria the one with a sort of metal hoop defining the shap and a big hollow fook all within it?
Wish buggerlugs JH would cough up with the goods both on the "furry" blue bass on his site, and whether something tragic/clever has happened to Hot and Hot1's neck pickups. I wonder where he got his capacities as a wind up merchant from?
Take a look on 5:11 and you might catch what I mean.
BTW the sig...in case you're wondering, reads:
stoned mental ugly viking bassplayer seeks cool hilarious bright Barney's Angel for parting, beerbuddydom, laughter a maybe even some lurve but certainly no sex or little baby vikings or angels
I just wanted to say that Steve Campbell has the greatest signature ever (to appear on NOOL). How did you come up with it Steve, and why?

Cos I'm whacked off my titties on painkillers, and I figured the here-gathered females might get a laugh out of it. And because essentially, it's correct :D

yeah I did. Looks mental. Although if you took it gigging no one would take your seriously and you'd be open to all sorts of piss taking.
What kind of strings do you use Steve? The ones that came with my new one hurt my fingers and are impossible to slap (although a lot of the time I do neither and use a pick)
What brand of painkillers are you on mate, and why? (please note: the names of pain killers are different fom country to country, so it would be best if you wrote how much Coedine etc are in them so we can get an idea of the strength and potency of these pain killers you have been prescribed ( i'm presuming they have been prescribed to you Steve).
I'm a cheap bastard with strings ever since the few times i bought really expensive ones...they went dead on me in virtually the same time as shite ones.
I only change by string when they get really bad to play cos I don't mind a half dead tone. My bass has (how embarrassing) these things called "dadi" off ebay..they're chinese, cost like 7.50 a set....and after over 2 months of me beating 7 shades of shit out of them, then can still sound good once you have them shaken up a bit from playing for a few mins. They have a really unique clean tone that you'll either love or loadthe, they only appear to be available in 045-105, which is bad cos I like something a little lighter (tho 37-95 were stoopid when I tried em..I mean a LITTLE lighter)...but at the same time it's good cos the last time the I spent time settingthe bass up it had that very same gauge on it...which saves me fannying around.
Before those I had a set of Trace Elliott strings...they should stick to amps frankly. They were lovely rich strings, if you got tucked into TPK or something up that end of the thing, there was still a lovely rounded fat tone to the fundametal pitch. And if you gave them a bit of thumb and a bit of funk, they basically kicked ass. " days later it sounded like I'd cut down the neighbour's wire fence and wrapped it round the machine heads. Chrust they stank...and a good old fashion cheap bastard's boil up with salt and solvents brought them back for only about half an hour). you could argue that that's OK because any pro would change strings regularly. I dunno, there's regular and there's obsessive. I like them to at least settle down FFS.
A good string that I always love and last forever and ever is D'addrio XL...really really sweet soft slinky buggers, Oddly enough although they last, you know when to change them when they lose their slinkyness ( beyond boil repair :) )
Not terribly shockingly pricey, but will go the distance...but give the dodgy chinese "dadi" ones a go, you may love them.

trammadol 50mg an opoid apparently I've explained this a lot here, and don't particularly wanna go into the grosser details so again cos people will grow tired of it(especially on DR.)
hidradenitis suppurativa
Google yourself out :)
some days I'm ALMOST fine, and I don;t bother with pills. Other days like today I am in total agony, even with that level of pills in me, and I am reluctant to piss around with dosages. I'm allowed 400mg a day, been up since 0630 and had 300. Bit of a cyclic annoyance between the painkillers, the antibiotics (none at the minute, having a detox for Xmas...they're metronidazole so no messing with drink at all, and no staying on them all the time) my stomach, my food intake, the sheer lack of company or means to expend energy and my sleep patterns, tis why I'm here so much. All the current potions achieve is to hold it in check, until I get to see the big clever doc who can prescribe some hideous medicine called roaccutane.
I'm VERY sore now but JUST capable of sitting at computer in a modified armchair. Probably by monday the worst of this will pass ( I'm as happy to find blood bewtween my legs as any woman who thinks she may be pregnant to some random asshole cos it means something's finally burst and released pressure)
If you have concerns regarding my mental condition, let me assure you I hae always been completely mental, and the amount of trammadol in my blood is only a mere modulation of the smallest order on that general level of mentalness. And you can blame my sudden discovery that NO are better than even i suspected last month on my near total residency here.
I have plenty of RW mates, but only 2 who I see much of and who I could be arsed with talking to when I'm sore. Most of the time I sit here alone. just me and my computers.
the folks here, keep me my sanity at a level best described as "nominal". I feel better mentally on a day to day basis than I dod say 3 months ago. And much of that is down to having crazy buggers to talk to hear when ever I am denied sleep.
I trust that adequately answers your concerns
I think this has now turned into a bass thread.
If you remember about 2-3 months ago you both gave me quite a lot of excellent advice about buying my first bass, it's now sitting in it's stand next to me, crying out to be played dispite my wife saying i shouldn't have it until xmas.
I have never heard of boiling strings and don't know much about different strings, other than hooky uses some really thick buggers.
By the way my bass is a yamaha RBX374 and I got an ashdown perfect 10 amp, I had an old boss super chorus knocking around which ads to the hooky emulation a little but can't decide (r afford until next year) whether to get a line 6 bass pod live or NI guitar rig 2, I think you said you have the original guitar rig steve.
I also agree the av is cool, but if I had one like that my wife would slap me, HARD.

Well, i went a bit off the rails today-for a change:D Met a friend for lunch, that turned into about 6 hours and a bit of a mental one. Took a step outside the pub=freezing, -2 or something. Got back home and decided that i would rather stay in the warm with my son!
It kicks off late, so may go later. Realistically though, i think you're stuck with me tonight![]()
trouble with guitar rig is you get addicted and start using it on every external input as an all in one amp sim and FX box (dumb to record with FX of course so it's no routed that way :) ) And so you have 6 copies of the fooker running and Cubase raises the eyebrow at you...and you better save and get down to some track bouncing.
i didn't know Hooky used particularly thick strings, although it stands to reason really if you're always playing up the neck, that you want a bit of BOOOM in them. Must mean he has hands like fookin vices but. if you check Shergold's site (shergold.co.uk) there be info there about where Hooky gets his 6 string sets woud to order....dunno how up to date it is.
I am a complete bug girls blouse with strings because for one thing, I like to funk them like a guitar some times...when I feel more mental than usual...and because I'm just too big a ponce to build up the strength to hack fat strings.
Oh no...not stuck with bonzette...not bonzette the really funny kind hearted escaped mental patient. Suppose I'll just have to laugh my nuts off (if only) at you then. bummer
I'm laughing at your sig Here's a signiture for yer C,you mental fucker.:D

Can't promise bonzette...if I'm like i am now...I don't want you to see it, and anyway..I couldn't move. Still we may get lucky, it would be a genuine pleasure.

Not that I won't be busting a gut to see what's going down..Fairplay Cambo/Campo/weirdo your an entertainer with a little bit of something for everyone here and there, me thinks...and you don't take anything to heart which is a good thing for we..Just don't turn to jelly if you start crackin on with the Hookmeister. He seems a down to earth fella in the movies(when are we going for a pint in Redcar Hooky) even if he is undoubtedly a special down to earth fella...I'm sure you'll be high as a kite, and do your best not to make a pigs ear, representing the fans forum..and Hooky, don't ever stop makin the sound you make with your bass, for fucks sake.you have no Idea how much I LOVE your sounds.Fuckin NEW ORDER![]()
