Audio from DVD to MP3 - tools?

Hi there,

I've bought the DVD video collection and would like to rip it to MP3, to listen to it in the car.

Any good free tools out there to record to MP3, that don't come loaded with spyware? Thanks.

Obigatory No content - I'd like the original 7" versions that the Collection has of Ceremony, Temptation and Confusion much better than the Substance or Retro ones.

at a push, just spark up the wave editor of your choice, and set your soundcard's record input to "what you hear" and then do it by hand.

there is a package to do it, but I am buggered if i can find it or even remember it's name...I think it's actually something really cryptic like "dvd audio ripper".

Some dvd ripping software will allow you to set audio only output formats, i assume tat would also do the trick.

if you're only gonna do this once, grab a warezed version of something off demonoid or somewhere like that....it'll be less painful than windows freeware, and you'll be able to read if it works or not efore getting it! If you plan on doing lots of it, play nice and buy it.

Course the easy answer is linux, libdvdread, transcode and Lame.....but it's a bit of a length to go to :D

If no one knows the answer then be patient, i mean there are plenty of tools on this site and i've no doubt they will show you which tools to use!

ah you could just buy the singles cd collection as well, called Singles. you get a few more songs as well.

I'm with Alistair. That one works great. But be warned: You get a 30 day free trial version. So if there are any other DVDs you want to rip for whatever reason, do them all promptly. I did 511, 316, and live DVDs by Wolfsheim, Skinny Puppy and Apoptygma Berzerk.

I've found Audacity works well for that. It's a good basic software editor, and you just clip the WAV into separate songs.

I've got Singles - a fine compilation. Singles has Run on it (mislabelled as Run 2). I was after Run 2, which IS on the Collection. The 'Run vS Run 2' thread has more info.

As said by Aries, I'm running the 30 day trial version of DVD Audio Extractor. After that, well I might just buy the SW since there don't seem to be any free tools to do this out there. :)
