Honestly, I can't really remember if I heard BM that much back in the day. I do remember Regret on the radio circa 93/94, so I'd have to go with that as my first NO song. I'm sure something from their Eighties heyday was on the radio back when I was younger, but Regret was the only one I can remember prior to 1997 or so.
First New Order song I ever heard was Ceremony. First Joy Division song I ever heard was Exercise One I think, on the first 1979 Peel Session.
First JD song I saw live was Disorder, first NO live song was In A Lonely Place I think.
As far as JD, LWTUA, though She's Lost Control is what made me a fan (the Something Else performance, thankfully included on the Peel Sessions rerelease)
Yes...Blue Monday was the first NO tune I heard...thanks to that infamous older type sibling that I have...second NO tune was none other than Love Vigilantes...hehehehe...not that you asked, or much less care!!!!
The first New Order song I heard was True Faith, though i didnt know New Order did it. The first song I heard that I knew New Order did was Bizarre Love Triangle, which got me into them. I have to admit about being an uneducated american and the first time i heard blue monday was when the orgy version was getting a lot of airplay. it wasnt until i bought my first new order cd, best of, that i knew new order had done it.
First JD song was when the Transmission single came out.
First NO song was Ceremony.
Both songs are very near to my heart.
First new order song I heard would have been True Faith, but didnt know it was them. The first New Order song I heard and got me into them was BLT. Saw the clip, changed everything then heard Blue Monday and it went on from there.
My first NO experience was True Faith! I wasn't really into them but I really like the song. Good thing I came around :)
Since Power, Corruption and Lies was the first album of NO I heard (from a friend) the first song i would have heard was Age of Consent
I think it's Temptation or BLT, I can't remember exactly. Actually, first NO song that brought me into New Order is True faith.
Blue Monday was the first song I heard - would've been 8 or 9 at a school disco
Although at the time - I never knew it was New Order, much in the same way - I had heard Transmission & LWTUA - but didn't know they were by JD, the song that got me into New Order was Temptation from Substance (me Uncle John played the album over & over) first recollection of seeing them on TV was True Faith;)
Hearing Blue Monday crackle out of an AM radio in SE Melbourne in '83 was a life changing moment.. Still recall it quite vividly.

Snap! Was just about to write that very same comment.

....'cept it was from my brother, who definately isn't a friend. Actually that's all a lie - it was Temptation from said brother's Factus 8 Vinyl in 1982. Absolutely blew me away (not bad considering I was 10)
And he quite possibly meant to say 'vinyl' as well..
A big night Mr Dog, perchance? Smokin' a little crack? Perhaps those crazy guys in the Ancient Marine Life department dunked you in the formaldahyde tank a bit too long?

...unfortunately you can only edit or delete your own content though, depthy. :finger: Touch of Beeritis coming on, that's all. Plus I couldn't have you overtaking me as Number One Aussie poster now, could I?

Yeah, but yer just chasin', lad. But that's OK - I hear second is the new first, so you're just too hip, baby. I'm getting a bit beyond communicating on this forum tonight to be honest - my day has been:
:sleepy:
and then probably :\puke:

Keep this pace up and we'll both hit the fabled 316 before Sandra Sully hits the screen.

First new order song I heard was Blue Monday and then True Faith 94. First JD song was LWTUA.
i heard blue monday loads of times before knowing it was by new order, so it probably was the first new order song i heard because everyone knows it. the first song i heard actually knowing it was by new order was true faith which got me into them in the first place.
It was one of three: BM, True Faith or Regret. Think it might've been BM but I'm not 100% sure.
of course it was my first. They always played it at skating for the lets go really fast and try to kill ourselves section of the night. Those were the days
The first song I ever heard was Your Silent Face. I had no idea it was New Order though. The first song that I knew was New Order was BLT. But True Faith got me into them, as it did for most here apparently... Something about those drums...
I remember hearing LWTUA as a kid at the time of its release. I vaguely remember hearing Everythings Gone Green back then and thinking it was pretty cool but not knowing who it was by. But yeah, I guess like many people here, Blue Monday was the song that really brought NO to my attention.

I remember (just!) seeing NO do Blue Monday on TOTP in about 1987 - when i would have been 9 or 10. That is the first recollection I have of noticing who they were but can't be sure if it was the first song I heard it's all a bit fuzzy now...
8 years of which may have something to do with the blurred memory thing!
I'm fairly sure it was Blue Monday (boring i know but more than likely true!!)
I was heavily into dancey stuff like Shamen and 808state at the time i got into NewOrder. My best mate lent me Substance cause he thought i'd enjoy all the remixes on the second tape.
I listened to nothing else but that album for weeks!!!
I then got hold of Brotherhood and the foundations for my NewOrder passion were well and truly cemented :)
Hearing Technique for the first time took them from being, merely an excellent band that i listened to all the time, to a band which were just on another level to anything i'd ever experienced.
And the same applies well over 10 years later!!
It would have been Blue Monday...didn't know it was them who did it until I bought Best of in 94. First song that I knew was NO was World in Motion - which I bought coz I bought anything to do with football back in those days.
First JD was definitely LWTUA, which I remember chucking on on a juke box to see what they sounded like.
Was a song from Movement when I was about 6 years old ... My cousin (babysitting) sat me down and made me listen to it ... But it was Bizzare Love Triangle which really made me stop listening to Wa Wa Nee and Michael Jackson all the time ..
I don't remember the first song specifically but I know that it was from Technique. I was a junior in high school, it was 1990, and I was going to a school dance with a couple friends and these absolutely beautiful Catholic school girls (ahhhh, yes,
Catholic school girls
). The one was driving (I was too young) and had Technique in the cassette player. No wonder I like NewOrder so much!!
Not too much later I got the Rolling Stone issue with the top one hundred albums of the eighties. There was PCL and my first NO album.
i remember seeing the true faith video at my grandma's house in the late 80s. i didnt remember the song, though, i remembered the weird guys fighting. i was against them in high school, because i thought NO was disco bullshit. the first song i payed attention to was bizarre love triangle. i got into NO from joy division in college. the first thing i bought was movement, and i loved it the first time i played it. following this, i finally bought NO substance. this was the first time i heard blue monday. after listening to the album obsessively, and beginning to worship perfect kiss, i was crossing a street somewhere in michigan at like 2 in the morning, and a random car drove by with blue monday blasting out of the window. i ran up and started yelling, but the driver got frightened and drove away. i took this as a sign. of what, i dont know.
