The first song I ever heard was Your Silent Face. I had no idea it was New Order though. The first song that I knew was New Order was BLT. But True Faith got me into them, as it did for most here apparently... Something about those drums...

I remember hearing LWTUA as a kid at the time of its release. I vaguely remember hearing Everythings Gone Green back then and thinking it was pretty cool but not knowing who it was by. But yeah, I guess like many people here, Blue Monday was the song that really brought NO to my attention.

I remember (just!) seeing NO do Blue Monday on TOTP in about 1987 - when i would have been 9 or 10. That is the first recollection I have of noticing who they were but can't be sure if it was the first song I heard it's all a bit fuzzy now... 8 years of which may have something to do with the blurred memory thing!

I'm fairly sure it was Blue Monday (boring i know but more than likely true!!)

I was heavily into dancey stuff like Shamen and 808state at the time i got into NewOrder. My best mate lent me Substance cause he thought i'd enjoy all the remixes on the second tape.

I listened to nothing else but that album for weeks!!!

I then got hold of Brotherhood and the foundations for my NewOrder passion were well and truly cemented :)

Hearing Technique for the first time took them from being, merely an excellent band that i listened to all the time, to a band which were just on another level to anything i'd ever experienced.

And the same applies well over 10 years later!!

It would have been Blue Monday...didn't know it was them who did it until I bought Best of in 94. First song that I knew was NO was World in Motion - which I bought coz I bought anything to do with football back in those days.

First JD was definitely LWTUA, which I remember chucking on on a juke box to see what they sounded like.

Was a song from Movement when I was about 6 years old ... My cousin (babysitting) sat me down and made me listen to it ... But it was Bizzare Love Triangle which really made me stop listening to Wa Wa Nee and Michael Jackson all the time ..

I don't remember the first song specifically but I know that it was from Technique. I was a junior in high school, it was 1990, and I was going to a school dance with a couple friends and these absolutely beautiful Catholic school girls (ahhhh, yes, :love:Catholic school girls:love:). The one was driving (I was too young) and had Technique in the cassette player. No wonder I like NewOrder so much!!

Not too much later I got the Rolling Stone issue with the top one hundred albums of the eighties. There was PCL and my first NO album.

i remember seeing the true faith video at my grandma's house in the late 80s. i didnt remember the song, though, i remembered the weird guys fighting. i was against them in high school, because i thought NO was disco bullshit. the first song i payed attention to was bizarre love triangle. i got into NO from joy division in college. the first thing i bought was movement, and i loved it the first time i played it. following this, i finally bought NO substance. this was the first time i heard blue monday. after listening to the album obsessively, and beginning to worship perfect kiss, i was crossing a street somewhere in michigan at like 2 in the morning, and a random car drove by with blue monday blasting out of the window. i ran up and started yelling, but the driver got frightened and drove away. i took this as a sign. of what, i dont know.
