J-E-T appreciation society?

Most people seem to dis poor "Jetstream"... it's actually one of the catchier, better produced songs on the record... catchiest percussion on the record, nice hooky bass (at least on the original), nice pop/rock/indie structure with hooks, best use of keyboards on the record, the best use of guest or female vocals on any New Order record (not really much good competition there to be honest)

... but the chorus is such a blantantly amateur and lame forced attempt to make it a "pop" song that it makes me cringe... so does the chorus just ruin the song so damn much that cannot appreciate the good parts?

It's catchy, but too laid back. I like the Richard X remix better. It's what the song should have sounded like in the first place.

I like everything about Jetstream:

• The moody samples at the start
• The story told in the song
• The chorus
• The line "it's been so long since I made you cry"
• The Scissor Sister
• Some of the remixes
• The cover of the single
• The video

Oh, and it was great at Glastonbury.

I also like the Air Hostess bit in the middle.

Jetstream is a good song.

Though its a very poor New Order song.

Its more like an Electronic song.

Dumb, but harmless.

Personally, I've never quite understood why some people have such a problem with it. There are far worse NO songs.

There are elements of the sound I like that show up better on the remixes. I was a bit pissed off that they included the song in their setlists last year, seemed like they were doing it to please Warners which is so not New order. Its catchy at times but not a great song for me.

One of my favorite songs. Real catchy. The song should be played in an elevator or whenever I'm on hold. Jetstream has a calming atmosphere to it.

One flew over THIS Cuckoos Nest!Liked Paul's version though.

I like it. Maybe without the 'scissor sister', but nevertheless......good one liners, nice bit of solo....I think it brought NO back to the rest of the listening public who had forgot they existed to be honest.

the song was a complete embarassment on new orders part. Makes you wonder, do they even care these days?

I admire the remixes but dismiss the LP version.

i'm not that much of a fan of this song. it is much more of a madonna song, heck the instrumentaion even sounds very much like one of madonna's new songs (no i did not buy that album). i can dance to it though.

I think it's a pretty good song..sure not one of their best, but i take it for what it is.. simple pop music. I actually prefer the radio edit over the album version. It's a little more to the point, which is what a simple pop song should be. Furthermore, there is a version I heard on one of the NOOL podcasts that I like even more. It sounded stripped down like a demo version of some sort.

I think it's a great song. Though I really fell in love with the Richard X full version.

Think they'll ever change the live version to: "X-T-C...you are so good for me..." :D

Now come on, wise up will you all, there's absolutely naff all to appreciate about this piece of shit! ;) :p

Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't like it! I usually press the 'skip' button. The chorus is just wrong, for New Order!

Especially the remixes, much better. The Richard X remix is what Jetstream should have been.

I think its a real howler - pop pap they call it. If Bernard wasnt singing and you heard it on the radio for the first (or fifth) time, I think most people on this list would turn it off. There are some really well written songs on WFTSC but this isnt one of them.

I like it quite a bit. Never really understood the hate for it (probably coming from the same place as the "Sub-Culture" remix disgust). It's kind of breezy and fits nicely into the record. I don't understand how anyone could hate it more than that "Working Overtime" travesty, which has nothing whatsoever to do with anything Joy Division or New Order have ever done. The amazing Richard X remix is clearly the definitive version.

I've always liked it and agree Working Overtime is the worst thing they've ever done. I suppose all the hatred of the song comes from the Joy Division element

The song's shit. Even the band 25 years ago would say that.
