I have just been told by a text from Liv that Kylie mixed Can't get you out of my head with blue monday live at the brit awards. Could someone please tell me this isn't true.
Kylie Murders Blue Monday?

I had the same text. Now I have a reason to hate Green Tuesday - or should we call it Black Wednesday now ?
just saw that Kylie is releasing an album here in the states next Tuesday...I'm just wondering...do I need this one???

Aww come on, admit it, you're ALL closet Kylie fans here, and don't you just know it.... :D :D :D
![]()
Kylie Murders Blue Monday - And why not? how many remixer's have already done it;)
Alternatively
Kylie Murders Blue Monday - I'm glad some bastard has![]()
or even
Kylie Murders Blue Monday - she pleaded guilty - the judge gave her a mild ticking off, and asked if she'd murder that song that they released in 1990 (which got to Number 1) ![]()
I never realised how much that song sounds like Blue Monday... mixed or not. Surely a lawsuit is required!
After this shameful incident, perhaps there was more to the smacker Barney planted on Kylie a few months back than meets the eye!!! ;)
No collaborations please godammit ![]()
Now this is not on - in fact it's down right tragic :(
The pixie minogue does her own chuffing novelty pop bobbins very well and after one too many shandies i may well have wobbled round a dancefloor to the said can't get you out of my head nonsense and i'm sure she keeps men all over very happy but that's just it she really must learn to leave proper musicians alone - didn't she learn her lesson after the pap James Dean Bradfield thing - bloomin' moose ![]()
Is this the same Kylie who snuck an insidious chemical weapon into the states a few years back disguised as a cover of "The Locomotion?"
If it is, don't dare drop that shit here. I'm still fucking pissed off about the senseless pain this bitch has inflicted on my ears and my country.

If not, nevermind.
from NME.com:
"Kylie performed live, mixing New Order's 'Blue Monday' into a performance of 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' - destined to be one of the bootlegged tracks of 2002. "

Sorry for the off topic stuff !

Nope. I don't think a lawsuit is required.
BTW, I told Dave (old TPGWADP foe) that this song resembled Blue Monday a lot months ago... :)
As you may well know, I hate the stick thin, blubber lipped bint, but I for one will be tuning in at 8.00 tonight to see exactly what they do with BM
I know it's trendy to slag BM on this board - but how many other 20 year old songs are incorporated into live performances to be watched by millions. It's a great song, still relevant to both POP and dance, and lets face it, one of the best things the 'Order have ever done. Even if I have heard it 30bloodymillion times
Well like it or not BM must have a special place in all of us and i too feel that the evil deed that the poisonous pixie has committed needs to be observed if only for amusement value - or to establish how bad it is so it can be decided if she needs to be stopped in her tracks - perhaps she'll make a public apology but it's more likely that she'll get her arse out and 99% of the blokes will forgive her! :happytongue:

It was a great site... the first one i ever looked at when they invented the internet in a cave in the pennines...

Sara Cox played it on Radio1 this morning. Later on she read an e-mail out from some womble saying "Didn't that new mix of 'CGYOOMH' Kylie performed sound a bit like that 'How Does it Feel' by New Order. Womble. Even Coxy took the piss......
Oh, and I've just seen a pic of Kylie in the paper - she does indeed have her arse out, also her boobs seem to have mysteriously grown......![]()
Having heard the RealAudio clip, I'd like to make an accusation:
It was Kylie Minogue...on stage at Earl's Court...with the microphone.
The envelope please...

Hm......yeah, I can see going down to my local bootleg record store and requesting that one....."Tell ya what, I'll throw in an Engelbert Humperdinck concert from '78."
the horror, the horror........
well...beat me to death with a broom or whatever...but I never realized this song was by Kylie...I've heard it a few times, and thought it wasn't that bad...and now, this little version is even better...who would have ever thought that the Locomotion gal could do something that was actually alright...okay...you may now proceed to crucify me!!!
then I had to go to the store for a pack of smokes...and what was playing???
None other than Blue Monday....
what a strange world I live in!!!

You haven't seen the video on MTV2?
Anyone looking like THIS should have the right to cover Blue Monday... :D

I for one loved it and will be starting a campaign to get to have it released on the 1st April ![]()
Shame Kylie is such a midget. Give me her Big/Younger Sis any day. Much better developed.
Anyhoo, didn't Cathy Dennis write "Can't Get You Out Of My Mind?". A truly British eccentric, for anyone who saw her on Buzzcocks a few weeks back. Absolutely barking! Nice one..

Just listened to it - it's fuckin' brilliant !!!!

Saw Dannii Minotaur on the Tube the other week....RAF in real life ! It's all make-up !
As most people know (the regulars over the last 8or9 months)
My fantasy involves Kylie, Danii and a tub of Ice cream;)
listening to New Order and watching Celtic
Now I can have Kylie singing that cracking tune to me - just watched it - FUCKIN LOVE IT.....
Sebsy - after seeing Ms Minogue in that get up - are you still saying you wouldn't?
Agree with Hanky Panky
Kylie is one horny devil (and that's the devil I'd like to know better;) )
OK, having not seen the video but having heard the RealAudio clip twice now, I have to say (Locomotion trauma aside) that this was a brilliant move. Whoever came up with the idea of integrating Blue Monday is a genius, at least for one day.
Don't hang the DJ in this case.
Sure, it's a crime against New Order and humanity...but hell -- who wouldn't want to make an entrance to the huge, skullcrushing kick drum of death that is Blue Monday? Beats the hell out of playing the radio single everyone (except me) has heard 15 million times.
Now I can only await the barnyard-flavored followup, "Can't Get Ewe Out of My Head."
Dedicated to...

I'm sure Gilles is turning in his grave to see his boy trolling around in a fecking BAR. "No. Mr Dennis, I wouldn't like to drive your McLaren, I'm going to join a team that are really going places". Makes me mad to see talent wasted.Anyway, back to Kylie. It rocked. Nice pants, too.
Right I know this ain't like me but I thought it was a fuckin wikkid version..honestly, even had me doing a little jig in my bedroom. I liked the little 'how does it feel' homage at the end as well. She may be a irritating midget but she has good taste in bootlegs.
Shugsy to answer your question, still no. Up to the neck area she's great, but her face is minging.
I thought it was f****** Top. It was a pure perfect blend. She looked gorgeous and that song still sounds as vital as it did way back in 1983.
i've not heard it yet and i don't think i particularly want to. though it might be an improvement on the crap excuse for a song that was can't get you out of my head. and you can't bloody get it out of your head - it goes on and on and on...
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE???

This is Kylie "Charlene" Minogue covering New Order and you guys UNANIMOUSLY love it???
The ghost of Mr Curtis has now been completely exorcised.
I'd better take a listen.
:\pimp2:
Well I've seen Kylie twice and she's puts on an awesome show. I think the BM/CGYOOMH mix was a stroke of genius and didn't do either her or New Order any harm. I'm sure it'll probably pop up on some Kylie CD single eventually and I for one will get it. I think the mixing and blending of musical styles is what it's all about and people should be open to such cross-over ideas. Remember Kylie's collaboration with the Manics? That was ok as well. Maybe New Order will cover a song similar to Kylies? I do have a tape of them playing in Bradford where Bernard introduces BM with "Right, this one's called 99 Red Balloons". I remember reading in Smash Hits at the time that New Order were seriously going to do a version of that but it was too complex for them to figure it out. Sorry off at a tangent there.

Feck feck feck
What the girl has done is NOT a cover version !
It is just both songs sound similar (I never said they were identical), they just sound similar as far as the melody is concerned. That is all.
She just found it funny to mix it with Blue Monday. That is an hommage to Blue Monday. Nice hommage, I don't know, depends on who finds it nice or not.
That is all.
N21
Actually Kylie said herself on the radio today (both www.capitalfm.com & Radio 1) that she IS releasing this New Order version on her next CD single due out in May as a B-side as a tribute to New Order :)
Its crap... kylie Minge Hog has ruined that song!! I don't care how big her tits are its a fucking travesty!
I honestly don't think anyone can ruin that Brilliant song ... she did an ACE job I think. Plus I think it will create a new interest in New Order and cause younger fans to take an interest if for no other reason than just pure curiosity. This is a Win Win situation for both Kylie & New Order. This is really a good thing. If you bitch and moan about it then that is your choice as I don't see it as a bad thing at all. :)

Agreed. All she took is the backing track and sung her song over it. And I think it worked. And hopefully in the future I'll be dancing pissed in some crap pub to the new '...out of my head' rather than the original
I have to say, I thought it was pretty cool, but then again, I do have a soft spot for Kylie :) Watching it with my mates last night though, we began to get a bit ridiculous, inventing scenarios where Barney would come on and make it a Kyles & Jase style duet, with Hooky storming the stage in the same silver leotard her dancers were wearing :D We've all got over active imaginations.....
Anyway, I reckon Kylie went a bit OTT on the Botox before the show - her face looked as though she'd pulled her skin back with bulldog clips.....
Oh yeah, and Dannii is awful - like Jonathan Ross said, she's got a chip on her shoulder and its called Kylie :D
Like it or not, this will only help New Order in getting new fans.... which was the same with that Orgy version.
More fans, means more touring and more upcoming albums...
And they are doomed to play Blue Monday until the end of time :D
Originally posted by Seb Briggs Agreed. All she took is the backing track and sung her song over it. And I think it worked.
I don't agree. Not at all. Well I agree it worked, but I don't agree she sung the lyrics to her song over Blue Monday. I think Blue Monday was more of an accompanying background. The rest is all of the original, with the melody slightly altered to match a bit of Blue Monday.
I think actually it was a good move. I am pleased to see someone who sells records by millions to people of every age making a tribute to New Order.
Whatever her musical past might be (I find it crap, very crap, except Too Far remixed by The Brothers In Rhythm which is Kylie at her finest, give it a try, it's one of the most claustrophobic stuff I ever heard, and it is very good), I think the track is good, that's pop, whatever will happen in the future weeks (ie we'll all be forgetting the song of course, that is what pop is for) but hey, it's great to see that you can merge a pop tune which has success with that good ol' Blue Monday. Wasn't the track commercial poppy stuff at that time ?
Bah anyway. Both songs are SIMILAR musically and as far as the melody is concerned. That is why maybe they mixed both.
Also : disturbing element, whatever : Kylie took a chance on musical "credibility", and it didn't work. Sorry guys, but you wanted her to move a bit, and it didn't work since she got slammed for changing styles. Now she does the pop stuff again (which i don't like much) but she gets slammed again... Bah. The music I don't condamn, it's more of an attitude towards what people like. Now boys bands ? Yeah they're shite. They're manipulated, and they're marketing. Kylie's not. Kylie's been there for ages.
That is all.

you see i could not agree more
and its not a bad use of the sample
i loved the song originally and now its even better

Well my memory of the 1980s is a bit hazy and I'll never get into the attic to get the mag out. I suspect they were joking when they said it, but I do recall it being said. And I do have an mp3 of Barney's "99 Red Balloons..." remark so it's possible.

I've just remembered another bit of the interview. They said the reason they could not do '99 Luftballons' was because it had too many of the black keys on the keyboards in it and they never had figured out how to play the black keys. I thought that sounded bollocks but then I was watching the video for 'The Perfect Kiss' and if you look Gillian and Steve don't touch any black keys in the shots of them playing. I imagine they've figured it out now... but then...
Sorry I really want to get back to Kylie. I have to say I have seen Dannii in concert (got an autographed picture...!) as well as Kylie. Can't quite make up my mind. I guess I'll have them both please.
I wonder what the scale of the royalties is for using BM on that song then?? Kylie actually sings the line "how does it feel" twice at the end so using the lyrics must bump it up even more for NO surely??

Part pisstake part truth. Yes, they did only use white keys in many songs up till 86 as they wrote songs in the same key largely, which didn't necessarily need to use the black keys. They were never ever ever going to cover 99Luftballoons though ! Paradoxically, many Smiths bass lines only use the black keys !
Was out last night, got the missus to tape Kylie at the Brits, that bit she managed o.k. only she taped it over Reading '98. A Kylie retrospective on about 11.30 had a pretty good track she'd done with D.J Towa Tei from Dee-Lite called German Bold Italic it had a good video as well. That's my recomendatoin of the day.![]()

I've seen that - its mental. Doesn't she bob about the place saying something bizarre like 'I am bold italic'?? Myself, I prefer Kylie when she's pure pop. :)
Well...thank goodness...I was pretty sure that I would be boiled in hot oil and stand alone for saying that I thought this one was alright...
and no, I have not seen the video for this song yet...I hear it gets played quite often on VH1 though...may just have to watch that for a bit!!!!

I was under the impression VH1 played nothing but Behind the Music 24 hours a day.

30-something i guess. Just listened to it...it's even better then i thought!!I knew it, my kind of girl she is:D
Liked it as well. Gotta say that since I don't hear Kylie on the radio all the time over here, she doesn't bother me as she might if I lived over there.
Liked her duet with Mr. Cave, but who knows if this is another step in a series of many in an effort to shed her teenybopper past? Can't even imagine what that would even be at this point though.

You're so right Mr Green, her duet with Nick Cave is beautiful. Nice clip too.
So, what's the chances of Kylie taking over Gillian's place?:D
Being one of the few females on this board I feel I should give my opinion on the song, her, etc... (man I wish Liv was here!)
I had never heard of Kylie until this whole Brit awards/BM thing happened. Actually I didn't know what this thread was all about until I read my massive e-mails from the Ceremony list where there was much "classic" arguing (thanks guys!!)
I have heard the song (possibly in the club) but didn't care for it much. It is just another one of those bubble gum pop songs that you just dance too because he has a danceable beat. I had to admit you can't get the song out of your head!! (perfect damn title!)
I heard the version she sang live and I agree with Antoine that it is not a cover song but just a hint of BM in it. It can also seem like a teaser to NO fans because she is singing her song over it. She did do a wonderful job incorporating them.
Now for the reason she used it, I haven't heard. My 2 ideas are #1 She used it because she has respect for NewOrder and a classic song of theirs. Or #2 She knows people will go wild over this classic and it will help her sell more records! Honestly, I think it may be more for #2, but that is just my opinion!!
I saw the live version from some site and she really excited the audience, hey if you got it flaunt it! (I am not going to go bashing her because I am not jealous!) VERY cute dress, and the whole performance was ok. She can't dance too well, not very good choreography (Only because I was a dancer days ago.)
So overall I don't think this has made me a fan of hers or less of a NO fan, come on they are 40-something year old guys, of course they would let someone use their song if she looked like that!
Cheers NewOrder for surviving all these years!! ![]()

Don't feel bad Jeffy, I haven't seen it either. I had heard the song but didn't know (or care) who sang it!
I reckon it is bloody good & when it is released on the B-side of her next single i'll be having it.!
