NME Curtis Tribute

Without explaination, NME have decided to devote page 31 to Ian Curtis.

To anyone with any devotion, it's a fairly scant overview of the man's life. Pretty good quote from the boy Ryder though:

"Ian dying was an excuse to put a bin through a shop window. It was like your football team had lost."

Nice 'rock journo' quote:

"A month later [after his death] 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' peaked at Number 13 in the UK chart.. The song proved to be the singer's ideal epitaph - literally - for that is the phrase that Deborah chose to have etched on his memorial stone which remains in Maccelsfield Cemetery."

You should really buy the magazine - it's a top read!

it doesn't sound like much of a tribute. it makes you wonder why they bothered.

Didn't they do enough tributes last year already?

NME just work with the record companies to shift albums.the journos just hype albums to stay in a job.

The 21st May edition 2005 of NME had 6 black and white JD posters as freebies... The best edition of NME I've seen in a decade!

That was the last time I bought NME in a long time. Shame they decided to be lame about the posters so you can only have three showing out of the six.

Joy Division are hip right now, aren't they? Seems like they're the fav of dour youth and cool people at the moment. No surprise they keep popping up in the NME. Though there's nothing wrong with exposing people to some good music, the more people who're shown something more than the hit band of the second the better!
