Pub jukeboxes - anything other than BM, TF or Regret? — Forum Archive

Got the fookin surprise of my life last week when I went in one of my locals (The Sportsman, Mottram Road, Staly Vegas) and found "Brutal" on the jukebox.

Admittedly it's on as a track from The Beach soundtrack, but still that didn't stop me putting it on five times. In a row. Best pound I've spent in ages.

Which made me think about NO and their history on pub jukeboxes. I mean, NO on jukeboxes rarely gets further than BM, TF or Regret. Therefore, what is the most obscure NO track you've ever found on a pub jukebox? Furthermore, what are the best pubs for NO related stuff on their jukeboxes? Are there any decent pub crawls we could undertake based on the answers?

Your thoughts please...

a pub in a small town south australia had a juke box with krafty. mind you it was on the JJJ hottest 100 cd.

The Coopers Alehouse in Adelaide, South Australia has Crystal, 60 MPH, Blue Monday and of course LWTUA. Not really obscure, but they always get my plays much to the bar staffs dismay everytime im there.

There's one of my regular pubs in Eccles,Manchester called The Town Hall,which is strictly a "biker pub",but they've got the "best of.." CD on Jukebox. Even better is CORBIERES in Manchester City Centre,which boasts a great selection of Manc tunes,particularly an edited selection of Substance,the full CD of Get Ready,and Substance-JOY DIVISION!

there's a bar called iggy's in NYC that has the 24HPP soundtrack on the jukebox. guess what is on nonstop rotation when i am there?

Saw World in Motion once, here in town. During the holidays up north I saw both Krafty and Disappointed (techinically not a NO song, but nonetheless) on a table jukebox at a 24 hour diner. Have also seen "Temptation" (mind it was on a number of soundtracks) and "World", both in Austin on a field trip.

Nothing very "out there" about any of those tracks,granted. But this is America, and seeing NO anywhere random is... cool.

My local (Golden Hind in Cambridge) has Singles, which often seems to be playing when noone has made a selection from the jukebox, which is a bit of a bonus...

My local is 'The Wheelrights Arms' in Kingston.

They have a digital jukebox and you can put just about any JD or NO track on and those by the 'side projects'. I've put on 'Murder', 'Elegia' (long version), 'Mr Disco', 'Decades', 'Sound Of Music' and many many more... The only one I've searched for and not found was the 'Saville Show Soundtrack'.

I think this jukebox wins hands down for choice, though it is quite expensive!

i just checked. there are two number 5 songs, the clash - janie jones, new order with moby - new dawn fades. a stuff up that would have made factory proud.

Those digital juke boxes seem to be getting popular .One in Coventry (a city i hate ,i have to add ,by law)a while back had Low Life ,Substance and Technique.

My local also has a digital jukebox that gets the latest tunes and plenty of older stuff so the regulars have been treated to WFTSC and the usual suspects as well of late.

The Marble Arch in Manchester has a cracking jukebox.

Almost on a par with the legendary Corbiere's.

Full 2 x Substance 87, Closer and 24HPP.

Plus many quality albums - all unedited.

Great beers too.

i thought the advent of the online jukebox would be a good thing, in that it gives sensible types the opportunity to choose from A LOT of cool music.

unfortunately, it has turned out to be positively tragic. it seems as though there's a lot of doosh bags out there that are more than willing to throw twenty bucks in for a few hours of non-stop metallica.

Christ I've not been in there for years! I used to do all them,The Arch,Pot Of Beer,Beerhouse,Smithfield.And I miss my German wheat beer!
