Brought to me by my boys in the music department....

New Order WILL play Finsbury park, and it's rumoured to be a warm up for Glastonbury. Arthur Baker's supporting again.

Aren't I nice, hey?

Well done Sebsy! I shall need to make arrangements now asap - but how can we really be sure? They are a bit fickle aren't they?!

Cheers Seb. Where did your 'boys' get the Glasto info?

I'm only asking as Allen J had 2 separate calls last week from reliable sources v close to the band indicating that they would NOT be playing the Pilton Pop Festival.

Well it was from the music journo's at where I work. The information was given to them by Arthur Baker who is promoting his new label/album - so it should be reliable - Well they've thought it reliable enough to broadcast it to air (check out ch4 Teletext page 451). But as well all know with NO....

It is my team Hank, but I don't think it's true. The reason being is we signed two other loan players, Paul Wheatrcroft from Bolton and Adam Murray from Derby today, and you can only have 2 loan players at a time. Bit of a shame cos I've heard Partridge is a bit good.

Desperate last minute bid to catch Luton, eh Seb?

Looks like Plymouth are walking away with it now, so I'd rather see us slip back into the play-offs and nab ourselves a Millenium final! Much more fun. ..

I was well confident up til last saturday's pathetic result. Plus half our side's injured. In my one experience of PLay offs they're no fun at all - we lost 6-3 over 2 legs to our local rivals Cheaterfield. So Auto promo will do me fine....

Have to agree with you there, Seb. Brighton got beaten 3-1 by Notts County in 91. And got relegated the following season.

I'm taking your word for it, if that's not true, lynch him, not me for putting it on this site!! :)

Word of warning though - New Order were supposed to be playing a similar date at Finsbury Park back in 98.

And we all know what happened there. ..

Wasn't it the Phoenix festival back in 1998 they were supposed to be?

That one didn't go ahead coz the organizers went bust - so they did Reading instead.

Obviously we can never trust the 'Order, but it's the most encouraging thing I've seen yet

The Phoenix didn't go ahead cos of poor weekend ticket sales. It was by the Mean Fiddler organisation as well, hence the move to the Reading Festival instead.

New Order were also supposed to headline a day at Finsbury Park, with the Lighthouse Family headlining the previous day but due to poor ticket sales the Lighthouse Family were cancelled and New Order were asked if they'd take all the costs for their day. They refused, and the event didn't go ahead..

I thought the Phoenix offshoot/Long Marston Airfield thingy actually went bust. I might have imagined it though.

Indeed after watching 3 glorious failures in the play-offs I could do with out them. Having said that I'm not a great fan of penalty shootouts either though I can say that the Millennium Stadium is a magnificent arena.
