What with the Community 2 project coming,I thought I'd like to see which covers Noolers like that are already out there...but mostly to let me know if I have'nt heard them before, to be honest :D I have the previous community and the EP,Of which I Like "Leave me alone" but was generally disappointed.I have higher hopes for 2, having quite liked Cambos All Day Long, for a kick Off![]()

There's a cover of "1963" by German Band Dark Distant Spaces that was on an earlier tribute album. I really like that. Surely can't much the fantastic original but has a more straight forward + more modern sounding beat.
Also found a live cover of "Blue Monday" by Nada Surf on the net that rocks.
Out of the covers NOT on Community, there isn't many that are in my playlists.
Frente - BLT Galaxie 500's - Ceremony The Echoing Green - Ceremony Nine Inch Nails - Dead Souls
I'm probably forgetting a ton, but since I have 1 GB of New Order covers on my hard disk, forgive me ;)
i know that xiu xiu covered ceremony on an early ep. i didn't recognize it at first, but i knew that i knew the song...
Stabbing Westward's BLT and Echoing Green's Ceremony both alter the songs alot, but still do a good versions of the songs I think..
The version of Temptation on Moby Hotel. Laura Dawn's vocals are good for this chilled version. They leave out some of the lyrics but still do the song justice.
Even As We Speak (Aussie band) do a better version of BLT than Frente! (not to say that Frente!'s isn't good)... Galaxie 500s Ceremony is also enjoyable...

I like Frente's BLT too, but I'd have to say that my all time favorite NO cover is Digital's Leave Me Alone off of Community I. It really captured the spirit of the original, but added another dimension--something I think all covers should shoot for.
I also don't mind NiN's Dead Souls. For the record, though, I thought that Orgy's Blue Monday was utter crap.

can anybody hook me up the galaxy 500 cover of ceremony. Heard so much about it but cant find it.
Chappaquiddick Skyline (a pernice brothers side project) also cover "leave me alone." it's minimalist, but nice.
The Country & Western version of Love Vigilantes by Love Speed Mama Jump (I think that's the band name)
It's the dog's bollocks.
My favorite cover of Ceremony is by Ikon, a very underrated Australian band. Please tell me someone here has heard of them??
not NO, but JD:
the pavement live cover of disorder is entertaining, if only because it's an excellent band covering an unexpected song.

Wasn't the echoing green track supposed to appear on a tribute album? Did it ever do so?
I still rather like the Jesus-and-Mary-Chain (in acoustic mode) style version of temptation by...er..anthony stritch or something like that, that was supposed to be on another tribute (that may or may not have seen the light of day).

I love Ikon, they're actually one of my influences. :) Their Shadowplay and IALP were really good too.
Just recently I stumbled upon a great cover of True Faith by Code64. Anybody heard this? Awesome stuff.
There's also this band Razed In A.. something. I don't remember. He did a rather forgettable cover of Doubts Even Here. ![]()
Mecromonia do an AMAZING cover of 'Ceremony' on that Spanish JD tribute cd. I have yet to hear a good NO cover.
Galaxie 500 - Ceremony The Oyster Band - Love Vigilantes The Chemical Brothers - Temptation 808 State - Blue Monday
:)
i would quite like to hear Chemical Brothers do Temptation
i quite enjoy the cover of Sooner Than You Think on the Community EP. don't know who it's by, but i heard it on one of the podcasts
