Hello all I was at the above night in which they didn't do an encore whereas the night before they had done Blue Monday - it looks like it was the only date on the tour without an encore - I was well pissed off. Anybody got any ideas why they didn't do an encore? cheers, UA

Barney's horlicks was ready and hooky had to breast feed one of his ickle kiddies?
Actually, maybe that should be the other way round. ;)
Barney was pissed off about the sound monitors having too much bass (Hooky) all night. Actually, one of the good things about seeing NO was not knowing what to expect next, so no encore wasn't too bad as you know what yr going to get anyway. Blue Monday again! They should get BM out of the way early in the set anyway followed by Thieves Like Us, 1963, Dream Attack, etc (IN MY DREAMS!)and encore with JD stuff if they must.

There was a particularly scathing report in The Sunday Mail about this concert - if I find it - I'll put it on here tomorrow, the review of the first night was brilliant - if I get a chance I'll post both of em;) I think 2 or 3 of us said a while ago (about Blue Monday played near the start) it'd be better to get it out the way and leave us guessing as to what they will finish with (or even better play some of the old classics AOC, AIIWIW.....) ;)
There was a review in the Daily Mail the next day where it said that Hooky had burst his ear drum and had to be taken to hospital. It seems a logical explanation as the sound was good (apart from Crystal) and the crowd were up for it.

Maybe they decided that one day in Glasgow was quite enough for them and that they weren't keen hanging around any longer.....? S' possible you know.....

Choice comment coming from a guy from the rock n' roll party capital that is Middlesborough. Where the fuck is it again anyway?

When was the last time they played Middlesborough?
There were a number of theories doing the rounds at the time including, Hooky's ear drum, the sound, Barney being a stroppy cnut etc etc....
Whatever it was, fair to say it didn't go down well with the locals. Fook me, the place went ballistic for 10 mins at the end, all sorts being chucked at the stage, road crew getting threatened. Hilarious.
For me, it was a rare return to the attitude of old & it made my night.
