Has anyone given a listen to the new EATB live cd? I was pleasantly surprised. The DVD is even better b/c it has a complete gig (and some great songs left off of the cd).
I guess this is remotely NO related, given that they toured the US together in '87.
Haven't listened to EATB fer a while mate;) Must look out Songs to learn and sing...haven't played that fer a while! What songs are on the CD mate?

i saw the bunnymen here in melbourne mid last year, great show i thought. Brilliant to see classics like Killing Moon, The Cutter and Rescue live.
Saw em last year in London & at the Sheffield Leadmill. Mates car got broken into in Sheffield city centre so we had a top night out!.
Would recommend their last studio album 'Flowers'. And if we think London records are lazy arses with NO, fook knows what sort of deal the Bunnymen are on, saw virtually no publicity for Flowers anywhere. Sad.

No problem Shugsy. The CD has been released in both the UK and the US. The DVD has only been released in the UK, with the US release date to-be-determined. Unfortunately, for those of us in the US, that means we'll never see it released over here in our lifetime.

I liked the bunnymen & I still do - even though they cancelled most of their dates in Germany so I last saw them in 87...
BUT: don´t you think that Ian has aged? I mean: even Barney has aged more gracefully! By the way: the live-sound is quite good, but the songs sound a bit to studio-like for me; what about some refreshing arrangements?

Yes.....definitely agree with you, mate. The last album 'Flowers' is actually quite good..with lots of 70's guitar works... Sadly, it has been neglected by many...in Australia as well.
They had a programme on telly last month called "Meet Echo & The Bunnymen" or something. Interviewing Mac (or rather trying to - seems he's still his wonderful aloof and arrogant self as ever..) and Will Sergeant - and fuck me, have they aged....! Now we know why Mac the mouth never takes his shades off - his eyes have probably disappeared into tiny pinpricks from all that facial flab!

They remind me of my good old fifth form days anyway, so its good to still see them round like an old favourite overcoat (mac! - heh heh)....

Another vote for 'Flowers'....If it was neglected in the UK and Oz, then that means it did REALLY badly here in the States, and yes, I had to search around for my copy.
saw the live cd in the shops but never got it cos it was recorded so recently - whats the concensus on it then? got evergreen with the free live cd & the johnny marr songs on & liked that one.
Heaven Up Here is the only proper EATB album I've got, also got Songs to learn and Sing (but only for the Cutter---love that song)
Anyone have a copy of their last but one mini-lp "Avalanche" which was put out on an web-only mail-order label last year? No one's mentioned it here yet.... Perhaps "Flowers" features some songs that came out on that release?
dave,what johnny marr songs are u talkin about? i have the electrafixion l.p. "burned",on which marr co-wrote 2 songs but as far as i know he didnt play on them.apparently marr and mac had a row and went seperate ways.i'd be interested to know if any other songs from those sessions were released or are still available.

Could never find a copy when it was released but did manage to d/l the title song and a version of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue from Napster, before they were shut down. Can't quite recall how many songs were on it either,sorry to report.

depends what interviews you believe - marr says he co wrote most of the album & as proof said to listen to the next one, & macc of course denies it.
anything said by original members of the crucial three should be taken with a pinch of salt in my book.
yeah i know what you mean.i've read a lot of macs interviews from the last few years and he often contradicts himself,ie he disses a band,then when everyone likes them he changes his mind.i reckon hes a bit of a chancer.i did get "evergreen" and there are plenty of marr-esque moments on it,like on "too young to kneel".
Avalance: it features six tracks - and to me it sounds somehow a bit unfocussed (a mini album...)
the tracks are: 1.hang on to a dream (Tim Hardin cover) 2.avalanche (new song) 3.all my colours/zimbo (re-recording) 4.silver (re-recording) 5.angels & devils (re-recording) 6.it´s all over blue (Bob Dylan)
it´s OK if you´re a fan (as I am) - but it´s no Ocean Rain, no Flowers etc. And don´t forget: What Are You You Gonna Do With Your Life was my album of that year!
Got to hear the live version of the Cutter, it wasn't really that great starting off but it got better.
Finally saw, and bought, the live CD today. It's pretty good, but I wouldn't deem it an essential purchase if one wanted to introduce someone to the Bunnymen. Heaven Up Here is my fave LP of theirs, so it was nice to hear All My Colours and Over The Wall. The new songs sound good, but if I never hear Lips Like Sugar ever again in my life, then I won't complain.
