I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but here's a blog where you can hear the StuartPrice/JacquesLuCont/3etal remix of I Told You So

What you talking about? It's a cool reinterpretation. Nice to hear it without the album's production, in a different context. Quite atmospheric. What remixing is all about!

cool remix
Vastly better than the original and who said remixes are only for the dancefloor; in fact, I think this one makes good sex music!

Its too bare for me and exposes the weak vocals. Doesnt have the great guitar parts. Only my opinion.
This mix is fucked. lol That's all I have to say. I'm a huge fan of the song, and this seems so bare. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I don't care for the chorus. Really.. But I don't know. Hmm. I'll give it a few more listens and maybe I'll warm up to it.
Hmmm ..yeah iy does siund Venus In Furs ish at the start.I like it ... oh , it's stopped .cut off.
its good![]()
Yeah, it is very Velvet Underground, now you mention it. Would sit well alongside their "Stooges" ('Working Overtime') ![]()
I like it, looking forward to hearing the full length version.

Oh my. ![]()
Is this the same mix that is to be pressed on the 12x12" releases? If so, this is one of the 12"ers that I purchased, and I will be disappointed. Very dissapointing, especially for Jaques Lu Cont ( if it is the same producer). I really like all of his mixes, this one is a stinker!![]()
This almost sounds to me like this could have been how the song was originally intended to sound - then it got jazzed up for the album. I really like it.

Well Iimagined that someone would turn this into a complete dacefloor stomper. Which this mix doesn't do. BUT...This mix is excellent. Way more dramatic than the LP version. i LOVE it! And there's still an opportunity for someone else to turn this into the a groove behemoth. Come on New Order/Warners/NOOLers lets have a killer dance version too!
OK, I'm going to have to go against everything I've ever said about being completely apathetic towards remixes - this is really quite good (although it helps that the album version of ITYS is one of my least favourite NO tracks)... There - I said it, maybe I should buy the 12 x 12"s after all...

Although this is billed as a Stuart Price Remix, the small print on the 12" reads:
Remixed by Stuart Price, Additional Production by Bernard Sumner.
Way to go Barney, this mix rules.
Yes, I noticed the 'additional production' credit to Bernard too - wondering if he has re-recorded his lead vocal to give it that more "chilled" atmosphere? Not 100% sure, however. Maybe his "additional production" was just an extra track of tambourine!
I think the album version of 'I Told You So' is one of those songs you like immediately on hearing it, then quickly get bored of. This is very possibly one of the rare occasions when a remix is better than the original... Very good indeed. Wonder if this version would have fitted better on the album?
