Ex Factory Records supremo Tony Wilson will be signing copies of his new book '24 Hour Party People' in Borders Book Store, Oxford St, London on Wednesday 13th March at 6.30pm.

Rumours that he's still a twat are unconfirmed but highly likely a spokesman said. ;)

Big up to Mark Reed for posting this news on Ceremony.

Right, bagsy go up to him and say "You're a fucking cunt you are, you're a bastard". Should raise a smile anyway :)

Wonder if he'll be doing the signing in those crappy bermuda shorts, kipper ties and opentoed sandalls then....

Take a copy of Blue Monday 12" and get him to write 'I love this record and i made loads of money off it, honest.' on the sleeve. ;)

I think the fact that Aitch is doing his book-signing in the smoke says it all really... I thought he thought he was a true Manc.....True Mancs wouldn't be seen dead in London, unless New Order are nearby :D

No probs - I don't personally want a signed copy, I'm only going to quote Ian Curtis at him ! I'll get three or four if I can and distribute them to those who ask nicest (and you've already got yours reserved)

YES I WAS IN THE AUDIENCE....BUT NO AFTER MUCH JOSTLING COULD NOT GET TOO NEAR THE FRONT...IT WAS RAMMED...A STRANGE DAY BECAUSE THE ORDER PLAYED AN EARLY SET FOR THE TV LINK UP AT ABOUT 7.30 WHICH WAS TICKET ONLY..THEN IF MY MEMORY SERVED MR RIGHT EVERYONE GOT KICKED OUT AND THEY PLAYED A SET LATER...MUCH LATER. THE FUNNY THING WAS THEY KICKED OFF WITH AS IT IS AND WHEN IT WAS FOR THE TV LINK UP AND THEN STARTED OFF WITH THE SAME SONG FOR THE LATE GIG...BUT HAVE NO FEAR THIS WAS NOT THE START OF SET DUPLICATION AND THE SONGS AFTER THE FIRST WERE DIFFERENT...QUITE AN AMAZING DAY SEEING NEW ORDER TWICE IN ONE NIGHT...EVENTUALLY LEFT THE HACIENDA ABOUT 2.30 IN THE MORNING TO WAIT FOR A TRAIN BACK TO DERBY (ABOUT 8 IN THE MORNING)...OH THE THINGS I USED TO DO!!!

If my memory serves me right it was a 'secret' gig too - in the days when secret really did mean SECRET! None of this net bollocks to spread the word.

Remember sitting down to watch it thinking they were live in the studio and couldn't believe it was a live gig. Had a quick ganders at the NME and in it there was a Hacienda advert with simply "The gig you've all been waiting for".

No probs Matt, I'm sure he's a nice fella.

Much of this stems from the band themselves. When Factory folded, they were owed a LOT of money which never materialised. Stories about proceeds from their record sales being used to subsidise less successful factory artists etc.

They have also been very critical of TWs, shall we say, business acumen. Like, starting a business with £12k, then 15 years later having debts of £2m.

An irony which was lost on me at that time, was during this period, TW hosted a TV prog on Granada about local business'. A studio audience made up of North West based entrepreneurs would share good & bad practices all facilitated & tied together by Wilson, who in his own self confident style would be the all-seeing all-knowing voice of common sense.

Lunatics & asylums spring to mind.

Bloke I work with mentioned TW to me recently. His Dad, years ago, taught Wilson at a school in Manchester. The mere mention of Anthony Hs name sends this normally placid, agreeable pensioner into apopletic rage. It would appear, his gift for talking pretentious bollox whilst giving noone else's opinion the time of day, was developed at an early age. ;)

I'm looking forward to meeting him :D

Remember watching this at home, only 20 miles from Manc, thinking, how come I don't know about this? Guess Als answered this.

You must have been ITK Paul?

Like your journey home story. Top man.

They played AIIAWIW + Sunrise on Whistle Test - taped it & played it so often the tape is now completely fucked.

Before Sunrise, Barney said something like..'this ones for Gary who's 19 today'. Didn't think much more of it until last year, my mate Andy who came to one of the Brixton gigs, mentioned in passing that Gary was in the room next door to him at Sheffield Uni. Fuck knows how he got that dedication sorted but fair play to him.
