SO many people make JD out to be one of the greatest bands ever. Closer is a great album, I admit. Unknown Pleasures has some great moments, but is overall too slow and moaney for me, ya know what I mean? I almost prefer MOVEMENT to CLOSER though. I just feel more comfortable with Bernard being the voice. But Ian was a good guy, and JD made some great music (although the "music" aspect of it was the three NewOrder blokes). So any JD fans here? Ya gotta love "Will Tear Us Apart" and that very first song on Unknown Pleasures, and really that whole Closer album.
Better band- New Order or Joy Division??

are JD and NO related?

The Other Two...now they were quality!
I would have to say NO. JD is great, but I really like Permanent better than the original albums (sorry purists). I like NO songs as originals and remixes. Also never thought that much of LWTUA, it's a decent song, but not anywhere near the strongest song by JD.

Tea and crumpets - do we order from the shop?

Who's Joy Division? Is she the inspiration for "Who's Joy"? Did she sleep with all the band members and then write a book about it? Oooh, the enigma...

one of those guys from Joy Division was later in Electronic with Marr and Tennant. i think he was the rave dancer guy

Perhaps you could expand on this?

maybe he is saying Bernard is a dickhead in comparison:(
At least Bernard can read. I heard that Curtis had to memorise all his lyrics 'cause he couldn't use an autocue!

quality. i seldom laugh out loud at stuff i've read, but this did it to me.
what is this joy division i keep reading about? i thought this is a new order site. are they anything like the cure?
Rotten bastards the lot of ya! Poor old MLANH. Cant this forum have the equivalent of a kiddies pool at the swimming baths so as newbies can have a splash around before they can learn to swim without being bullied by those with bigger dicks?

look again at what was written:

quite frankly i can't make heads or tails out of it. first we are told that joy division really wasn't that great. then we are told that they really did make some great music.
hey if he or she had just made a statement of preference of new order over joy division, it would have no doubt found great agreement. i too am a new order fan first. i do however respect and love the music of joy division as well.
Oh yeah I know that what was written was a complete set of bollox and he probably deserved to be flamed. I must be suffering from a social conscience at the moment.
I have to admit that I like NO better because you can see how the band changes through time, though NO couldn't exist without JD.
hmmm... its a time thing..
NO are getting weaker the longer they produce records IMHO. They are the essentially the same beast though.
I'm saying JD, cos they stopped before they had time to release average records.
It all depends, I don't think I've ever genuinely had a favourite band, plenty that have always (and will always) rate very highly in my estimation, but I don't think I could ever just pick one or the other... On the other hand I do have favourite songs of which my top 5 or so haven't changed in the last maybe 10 years or so, and based on the fact that Atmosphere is at number 2 and Love Vigilantes only number 5, at a push I'd say JD... Possibly...
