Anyone seen this? It's on Angry Ape today,soz if it's already been discussed.

New Order bassist Peter Hook has compiled and mixed a new 3 disc compilation album. The Hacienda Classics is the definitive soundtrack to the influential Hacienda Club, which will be released by Virgin on April 6th. BADD-ASSS!!! That looks like an awesome set list. Glad they put on 'Pump Up Chicago' - I hope it's the Acid Mix, that's the only one to drop.

And btw, it's 'Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)' by Hashim, not the other way around. Hope they get that right on the sleeve.

Wonder if there's gonna be a 4xLP or something, but I do have at least half of those tracks.

In some ways it'd be better if it wasn't mixed at all. But I guess it's preferable to recreate that Hac magic.

Only a chick who liked handbag house and didn't consider LofL to be dance music, it's no loss.

It also states in the Q advert that it's compiled by Hooky, so not necessarily mixed by him! :)

That 82-97 Viva Hacienda triple CD that came out a few years ago was awesome - classic electro (Klein and MBO, Hashim Peech Boys)into early house (Adonis), classic house and acid house (T-Coy, Lil louis, Phuture), and other classic stuff (Paperclip People, DJ Sneak, Basement Jaxx).

OK, it's not got Hooky's (or Pickering's and Park's or Sasha's) name attached to it, but it's great.

I'm just finishing some history of dance music Cd's for DJ usage... (as my dance music is splattered across hundreds of CD's).

I thought I could limit it to 10 discs; actually it's coming up to 32!?!

There's someone flogging a Viva Hacienda set on Ebay at the mo for nearly 50 Euros Buy It Now if anyone's searching for it. Seller is based in Germany.

Very true, Viva Hacienda is very difficult to track down (although I did buy a copy of it at the time), 50 Euros is quite cheap! :)

Although I've got most of the tracks on there, there are still some that I don't have, and what better way of grabbing these than buying this CD? Sure, I could download the ones I don't have, and then compile my own CD, but at around 12 quid (the price of around 4-6 pints of beer down South! :p ), what the heck!

I agree that the sleeves for the 12 x 12"'s are crap. Saw Ronbo's copies last night.

I've got that Viva Hacienda set and it's by far the best dance compilation I've ever heard.

Does anyone have the 'Hacienda Play By 01/96' compilation? As far as I know those were the only two official Hacienda releases. The Play By 01/96 is also good, as you can tell by the title it's very dated handbag house for the most part, though there are a lot of very good tracks. How rare is this? I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere, ever?

The Saville design came in a sealed package where the only way to open it was to slice it open with a knife!

CD3 Track 6 is Hashim 'Al Naafiysh (The Soul)' and they got it backwards.

The thing is, as time goes on, people give less and less a shit about getting the track titles right. They need some kind of proof-reading at these labels.

agreed those covers are crap. they are almost made out of paper. can't people make decent 12" record covers anymore.
